  • Hi everyone, just checking in with you again :)

Can I just ask, are any of you taking any vitamins or anything like that PRIOR to actively TTC. I think Folic acid is 3 months before. We're going to try after our wedding in 6 months, should I be taking anything now, does anyone know??

Ok - a wee bit odd here.

We're using natural family planning cause I can't take hormonal stuff and hate my diaphragm and I screwed up this month. Anyway, been feeling sick, dizzy, lady lumps hurting and so on, so I started to wonder if I could be (and, I have to say hope a little bit as at least it'd put an end to all the waiting and would mean I was functioning normally at least).

I just went to the loo and AF has arrived 5 days early. I feel really sad and relieved all at the same time.

    Is this normal???

It is normal for your cycle to vary every now and then. It probably just means that you ovulated earlier than last month.

Feeling sick and dizzy aren't symptoms I tend to get pre-AF, but it is not unheard of for other women to have them. I think it depends on how bad it is, IYSWIM.

Feeling sad and relieved at the same time is perfectly normal in my experience. Been there, done that! Several times! lol

However, if you are concerned about your cycle, please speak to your GP about it as he/she is the best person to advise you on what is normal and what is a concern.

Sunnyjolls - Yes, Folic Acid should be taken prior to conceiving, so I would start about 3 months before you are actively TTC'ing, just to be sure (you may catch on your first month!).

Personally, I am not taking folic acid specifically atm as our TTC date is not confirmed yet, but I take multivitamins daily which have some folic acid in them anyway. It's supposedly good for your body anyway.

Already have - I have hyperprolactinaemia which means I'm pretty lucky to even get a period at all, well as far as my doctor is concerned anyway. Doesn't feel lucky from where I'm sitting - anyone else get cramps down their legs and bum?

Sigh. Onwards. At least it means i don't have to deal with my caffeine addiction just yet. And more time to sort out the finances so we don't struggle with maternity leave. And get the repairs to the house done. Its not all bad. Sigh. I'm jealous of pregnant women and women with babies.

I get cramps in my stomach, and back. But what's worse is that I often get really bad trapped wind (sorry for TMI), and that causes it's own unique pain as well as making the cramps worse. Very annoying. I don't feel it in my legs though.

I get jealous of them too, that's pretty normal. Even though I know we need to do x, y and z before a baby comes along, doesn't stop me wanting one now.

OH sent me an email today with a link to a star trek feeding bib and spoon (lights up and everything). It's very nice, but it feels a bit torturous for him to send me stuff like that when we're not trying yet.

I've only had one proper period since stopping the pill, but it was pretty unpleasant, I had strong cramps in my tummy and lower back, which caused shooting pains in my legs/hips and nausea. It only lasted for the first 2 days though, and the other 4(!) were ok. No idea if this is going to be normal for me yet. Dairy Milk seemed to help though ;)

While I was waiting for my period (which took 50 days from withdrawal bleed) I got to day 35 and thought I'd better test just in case, even though we'd been super careful and I was pretty sure I wasn't pg. DH found me crying on the bathroom floor because it was neg :o He's now worried that I'm going to break my heart every month while we TTC if it doesn't happen quickly. I'm hoping I'll get used to it, but I know it's going to be hard. 3 of my sisters have kids, and all conceived 1st/2nd month of trying, so no reason to think I won't, but I'm trying to get ready for the idea it could take 12m+

euro, so annoyed with your OH for sending it to you without thinking that it might upset you, men can be so insensitive. I think my DH can switch things off and not think about them, so he doesn't understand how preoccupied I get with things (or more likely can only think about 1 thing at a time, so it just gets pushed out of his head)

it does sound cool though ;) it's the kind of thing DH would love - the text message noise on his phone is the star trek communicator and he's got a tricorder app. *rolls eyes*

The thing is, his friend (who's wife is pregnant) sent it to him. And I'm pretty certain the thought process was 'OMG, that's so cool! I have to show Euro, she'll love it!'. I just wish he had also thought 'Mmm, maybe this will upset her seeing as she really wants to start trying already but we're having to wait.'.

I just responded by saying it was cool and asking him if he knew something that I don't! lol

poolygal - right there with you! Know the timing won't get much better than this but scares the bejeezus out of me!

Phew! Glad it's not just me (thanks also to clearing_out_my_pockets for the welcome!.

I've not read the entire thread just yet, but looking forward to sharing thoughts and stories over the next few months. My head is full of probably very silly questions about everything, I'm feeling the need to know the nitty gritty about everything to do with pregnancy and birth, and not just the nice parts. Hope I don't scare myself off!

I'm taking folic acid, and hoping to conceive sometime from New Year. So I'm within the three months that is recommended, but started a couple of months ago, mainly to get myself into the habit.
  • Hi Everyone!

We are in a strange position. We are both 23 and have been together a while (6 yrs Feb 2012) and lived together 3.5yrs at xmas.

Both desperate to start to TTC but not quite sure we can afford it... OH is SE which means when the work is there and good he makes really good money (currently doing 6/7 day weeks and evenings and doing really well) but obviously when there isn't enough work we will struggle?? :S Plus he wont want to do so many hours as he will want to spend time with Baby B. Work only pay SMP.

On top of that my parents were 23 when they had me (I was planned and they started trying at 21 and miscarried) so are only just 46 now... i know thye want granchildren as my mum always talks about it, but talking about TTC is off topic. In my family their is high miscarriage rates and one auntie had a still born so nobody talks about it because of the heartache. Parents had counselling after miscarriage before having me as they were so hurt.

We both want it now... but have no idea when it will be right to start TTC....? Confusing?

    Hello people

Ditzie - I don't know if there's ever a right time. Are your work situations likely to change?

I'm on the last week of the pill before I've negotiated coming off it with OH - I'm weirdly excited. Although he'll go mental if I got pg within 3 months as he wants baby to be the oldest in the class at school not the youngest! I'm of the opinion that I've been on the pill for 10 + yrs so it'll be a good idea to get my body back to nature. I don't reckon it'll happen that quick but if it does I get a cute baby and OH will just have to cope! (I don't make that comment lightly btw - we're both into our 30's now so need to really get a rattle on, can't wait for perfect school age at our age ;-)

Woo - hoo - last few days on this thread!!
