Those who are waiting to TTC

Hi ladies, it's been a while since I posted on here. Well, we've decided to delay TTCing by another year to see if we can afford to buy our own place first.
My plan to be a mummy at 30 is going out of the window (I do get comments about my age from my mum too!).
So COMP, would you mind updating the first post to June 2013?
Thanks!

Argh! DH and I have been looking at finances and have decided to just go for it with TTC. I still have a week left of this months pill and I would be wanting to concieve beginning of December if possible (this would mean early September baby and as I am a teacher it would mean I could get the best mat leave). That's if I don't chicken out between now and then! Became Mrs W in 2011:smileyhea Blessed with Baby boy 1 in 2013, Baby boy 2 in 2016 and Baby boy 3 in 2018 :smileyheaDebt @ 19/8/11 [STRIKE]£20,060 [/STRIKE] current £0Paid off 100% :dance:0

still here, still waiting! Am waiting for cycle to return to normal after stopping the pill, currently on CD37 (after initial withdrawal bleed) and no signs of OV or AF
I was hoping to be able to pinpoint OV within my cycle by the end of the year to make it easier when we start trying, as I want to do SMEP, but so far no signs or syptoms of anything at all! I'm so tempted to start temping, but DH already thinks I'm obsessed and says I'm setting myself up for heartbreak if it takes us a while to conceive. In the mean time, I'm purposely trying to make sure we DTD every 2-3 days, to get him used to it:rotfl: I'm quite enjoying it, but he's not really an evening person, IYKWIM, so he's struggling a bit. If it was up to him though we'd only DTD at weekend afternoons *rolls eyes*
what's everyone else doing to prepare?Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
Hello
Thought I might post on here to get a bit of advice.
We have tentatively decided to try in January 2012. Ideally we would like to sell our flat first and buy a family home, but with the housing market that could take years and neither of us want to wait that long when there are so many variables in play that we can't control.
I've stopped taking the pill, and will have been off it for 6 months come January. I'm a healthy weight, no health problems to speak of. Periods have always been regular. Is there anything I should be doing now to prepare myself?
My other question is, how do you handle when you do start trying and trying to keep it quiet! I plan to quit drinking altogether when trying, but how to do this without people noticing and assuming I'm already pregnant? I could probably manage for the odd social occasion, and I would probably tell close family - but what about a weekend away with friends? I'm sure they would all think something was up and I really wouldn't want anyone outside the closest family to know about it.0 -
Hi Borokat
Main thing to do is to start taking folic acid - 400µg/day. It's recommended to take for 3 months before you start trying, and up til 12th week pregnancy. You can buy it cheaply from supermarkets, or buy a multivitamin that contains it plus other vits/minerals such as Pregnacare, but these are more expensive
wrt drinking, I don't plan to quit completely while TTC, just not to get totally !!!!ed, I'm pretty sure that a few drinks before you get your +ve pg test will not have any effect on the baby, as it doesn't implant until 3-4 days before this, and is not taking anything from you until the placenta is established. This is just my opinion though
There's a free book available about preparing for pregnancy at www.tommys.orgLittle monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
Great, thank you! Maybe I can just cut down then, or get everyone else really drunk so they don't notice I'm not drinking as much! Will get the folic acid started too - can't believe January is only 3 months away!0

Morning all
tmi alert  Last night when I took my bra off my boobs felt incredibly heavy, and my nips were insanely sensitive and very sore. Still sore this morning, I'm hoping this is a sign of AF approaching. Anyone else get this? I'm now on CD42, so really hoping AF will turn up soonLittle monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
LittleMoog I don't really get that, but then I don't really get AF at all! I'm on implanon and currently on CD51.
In terms of what I'm currently doing in preparation for trying, I'm losing weight. I'm not trying to lose weight - I'm actually doing it!Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0
