    Hi Euro

would it help to be really specific about what you are waiting for?

We need to have cleared x amount of debt
we need to be living in a bigger house

and focus on achieving those and refuse to wait for any other reasons? otherwise you could be right after all you are never in a perfect situation to have a baby

    I'm not TTCing until:

    I pass my driving test
    DD1 starts school (Sept woohoo!)
and probably until OH get a permanent contract - although like you that's totally driving me mad as I can't do anything about it
really we should move as well as our 3rd bedroom is tiny and full of our camping gear but we'll definitely have to see about that one!

Sensible hat is good if you're buying a house or a car, having a kid... don't think the heart understands sensible:p you will know when the time's right, its a bit like knowing you love someone, you just do, no rhyme or reason to it!
PMA PMA, if you do wait you'll be debtfree and be able to splurge more on said child, you'll be able to bring baby over to the UK more often as you won't have debt considerations and hopefully a relatively healthy savings pot and you can still make the most of being on your own, anything you've always wanted to do, do it now or you won't get another chance til your 50+:D:D:D

Oh I know. So frustrating though! If we were in a bigger apartment/house already, I wouldn't be so bothered by the debt (knowing it will be gone by end of this year anyway). But our apartment is really unsuitable for a child. H'll it's unsuitable for me to be pregnant and living there as the stairs are so steep! I don't think I could manage them with a belly! lol

So, we need OH to be offered a local contract, so that we can buy a house here. That is the crux of the matter. And whilst it started off so positive at the start of this year, his company have been flip flopping and changing their minds ever since. And now OH has a strong feeling that there will be a merger/takeover soon, which puts his job at risk. Arghhhhhhhhhh, I could scream!

I hate it so much. I hate the fact that his work has such a hold over us in this respect and that they are so bl00dy incompetent! :p Arghh, it's something I can't control. Neither can OH. He talks to them about it all the time, and they make promises and then don't keep them!:mad::mad:

Must get my PMA back up. I'm having a wallowing moment!

((big hugs)) It's good to have a rant every once in a while :o

I'm in a situation with my job that I know I'm going to be made redundant sometime before probably march next year but don't know when and so I'm hoping I can get pregnant before the cut off to get maternity pay as well as redundancy.
I am fortunate in that DH is the main earner (he earns more than double my wages) we will be able to manage but I would have to probably return to work earlier than I'd like and we don't have any family near by that could help with childcare etc.

I'm doing my 1st IVF now, and if this fails, we'll try again later in the year:)
DH doesn't want to adopt, I'd prefer my own child too, so we'll keep at it for as long as we can:cool:
If it doesn't happen, then we'll have a nice peaceful rest of our lives with lots of holidays and expensive stuff:D
I understand about wanting your own:) How about surrogacy?? If nothing goes to plan with my best mate I'm going to be her surrogate:) already talked about, sorted and preliminary contracts drawn up:D

Oooooo good luck with the 1st round:) whens your 2ww gonna be??? I will stalk u like a deranged.....stalker:D
Loving your backup plan too, shame you're not adopting I would happily put myself up for adoption for that kind of lifestyle:rotfl:

3 and a half years!!! It's taken us this long to be able to afford both trips home AND a holiday! And it nearly got sidelined again after all the drama with his brother. But, we both feel that we really need a holiday now so it has become a priority for us and will finally be booked on or after 25th of this month.

    Hi all,

    Can I play too?

I'm a long time lurker on MSE, been following the TTC thread for the last few months but like you all I am waiting for the right time for us to try.

A bit about me, I'm 26, DH is 29, we got married in Feb of this year and we already have a six year old little girl.

We never really intended to wait this long to have another but it's funny how life, studying, jobs, house buying, wedding etc all gets in the way!

We're hoping to start trying early next year, main reasons for waiting:

    - we're having a big family hol in October to Disney in Florida, we've only had our little girl on UK hols and over to see her DH parents in the Netherlands a few times but never any further afield. I really don't want to do that kind of hol preg (I want to go on the rides too!!) and I definately wouldn't do it with a really little one so this is the biggest holiday we'll probably have for the next few years.

    - I'm really hoping to be in a contracted job for maternity benefits- I've never gone back to a permanent contract after having our DD. I work 20-30 hours a week, all on my terms, I choose when to work and can fit it round my little girl being at school and DH work. Because it's not contracted though I wouldn't be entitled to mat leave/ pay. I have been looking for something else for a year or so, been offered a few jobs but they'd mean using loads of childcare which I really don't want to do. So the search continues... Then I'd obviously have to be in a new job a while before taking maternity leave.

-My health is nowhere near the level it as when I had my DD, although I was only a sprightly, and very fit, 20 year old then! I am not massively overweight but enough to want to get my BMI to bang in the middle of ideal weight before TTC, also would like to be as fit as is physically possible.

-We really would love to be in our "til the kids have all grown up" house when we have another baby. We're in a good sized 3 bed house at the moment, well 3 bed building site to be more specific, bought it in 2007 and the plan was for it to be done up and sold on asap. It's about 2/3 of the way there so we are getting there but I still very much feel like it's a temporary home. We are in a nice enough area, DD is at a fantastic primary school but we wouldn't want her going to the local high school. This last point isn't too major, still being in this house wouldn't put me off TTC, and I think being preg would maybe give us a good kick up the bum to look for something else.

I am REALLY broody, DD is always going on about having a little brother or sister (although I feel the novelty may wear off quite quickly! :p) DH has been broody even longer than I have, he's been going on about having another one for years! I really don't want a huge age gap betwen children and it's likely to be 8+ years as it is (DD turns 7 in Nov) I definately won't ait as long to try for no 3!!!!

Anyway, Hi again and sorry for the essay!!!

    Hi all :D

I'll second whoever said about painful 'natural' periods! After being on the pill for 8 years and the implant for 3, we decided in March to combine natural planning and condoms until we start trying in January. On the plus side, I am so happy to have my body back (if that makes sense?) and to establish regular cycles, but my god it hurts! Feels like I'm 12 years old again and just started my period, so painful and heavy :(

I thought that! It was like being 12 and starting periods all over again! lol :rotfl:
