Can I join you lovely ladies please?

I'm another one who has been lurking on the Trying for a Baby thread but has been too scared to post - and the recent shenanigans have put me off completely.

Me and my OH have decided that we will be in a position to actively start TTC around April next year. We've decided to wait till then as it fits in much better with our careers and my OU degree - I am maintaining a very PMA (or naive - you pick!) towards how quickly it will happen for us once we start trying! I also want to get myself in shape before we start - both becoming less of a lardy cake and also just being healthy in general.

I'm hoping it's ok for me to hang around here and share in the fun - and also that if I start posting with regards to my attempted weight loss it will keep me on track!

I am also keen to pick your brains on costs of things etc as we are currently living in a bubble overseas and when we move back to the UK in a couple of years time I think I am going to hate the price of everything! I figure if I can be as MSE as possible know and build up as much baby related MSE knoweldge as poss it will help!

Oh I shall, and on Saturday and on Sunday! Hehehehe

I volunteered to work as a steward for some of the time also, so hoping to get a little closer to the actors :D Must remain calm and not turn into a beetroot if they say hello to me! :rotfl::rotfl:

:rotfl:stalko!! you must get a little bum grope in ;)

Wow lots of ladies joining looks like there was a spot for this thread after all!

Something i'm liking about the new thread is the title - it doesn't say in big green letters Trying For A Baby so no need to keep hiding it at work!! good on the stress levels :)

Welcome to all newbies & mintedby30? nice username!

Here is a wee bit info on our situation.

I am 31 and been with OH (28) for 5 years. We started TTC #1 last July with no success so far. A month ago I found out am being made redundant in Sept/October so any maternity pay went out the window. Am going to stay on at work til then to get my redundancy payout so at the moment TTC is on a break. In the future, OH and i are considering moving abroad for a year to work and save up some money, so that will mean TTC is postponed a further year. Scary!!!! But am coming to terms with the idea. 31 is not that old after all???

Afternoon all on this lovely sunny day :)

Nothing exciting for me to report - but I would like to say a massive thank you to clearing-out-my-pockets and euronorris.

Like Kalama (:hello: by the way!) I was too scared to post on the TTC board and the interest in this thread already shows there is a need for it. Most importantly, I no longer feel alone in the heart v head conflict of wanting a baby and feel reassured that many are in the same situation.

    Thanks guys :j

  • Ooh - weight loss. That's a good one too! I intended to lose weight for my wedding but fate gave me a sample dress that fitted me perfectly with no alterations, so financially it didn't make sense for me to lose weight ;)

I really don't want being overweight to affect our chances of conception. I'm not obese, but I am definitely overweight. Incidentally my measurements have been reducing recently.

I'm with you on this one. I've been on a health kick for the last couple of months, have totally altered my eating habits (which were appalling and are now relatively healthy) and have lost 12lb so far. 23lb left to my goal. I was also in the "overweight but no obese" category like you clearing_out_my_pockets which was doing nothing for my PCOS and will do nothing for TTC so healthy me is here to stay! I have to lose another 9lb to be in my healthy weight range...

I'm waaaaaaaaay further away than 9lb! :rotfl: But I have lost 20lbs in the last 2months, and that was with a wedding and my bday weekend c*cking things up ;) I can't exercise either (health conditions), so if I can do it, anyone can! ;)

    Keep it up ladies! :D

(I should really just be lurking, huh ;):p)

    When are you beginning?
Ooh ooh can I join? I half lurk on the TTC picking up tips but I feel I belong here!

I'm mostly over on the DFW boards as you've probably guessed from my sig. Been with my OH for 3 years, realised 6 months in that we'd really like kids together, but that with my debt there was no way I could afford to be on maternity leave, so I've been hammering away at it and should be debt free in August. Which means we can start TTC... in theory!

Now it's getting closer though I'm getting a bit nervous! I have so many new fears that I hadn't thought about before!

A LOT of my friends have had kids in the last 3 years, I love their kids and they're adorable but when one of the toddlers is having a "I'm not going to stop ALL day and nothing will remain unturned or not hurled at someone!" day I find myself losing patience fairly quickly. I don't know how they do it sometimes! Plus I'm really NOT good with lack of sleep, I'm vile if I'm woken up (I do shift work so this happens frequently!), we have NO family nearby for support (his is 200 miles away, mine 150 in the other direction!) and OH is a clean freak that I'm afraid will be pushed over the edge by a toddler with sticky hands! I hope these are all "normal" fears....

I have PCOS so I think we'll start trying in August because we're expecting it to take a LONG time - I can go 6 months with no periods. I think I'll wind up on clomid. Who wants to bet I'm preggo by Sept now I've said that! :rotfl:

Anyway I've rambled on long enough!

    Dreamer xx

One of my closest friends has a 9 yr old and an 18mth old - and there is no separating them! He's her little side kick, follows her everywhere, she dotes on him AND she's old enough to be genuinely helpful and will get him into PJs etc! It's like a sibling and an au pair all rolled into one!
