I applied a couple of weeks ago, called them today and my application has been accepted and my welcome pack was sent a few days ago. I've got two CCJ's (settled) and a poor credit history but still got the nod.

Welcome to the club and I am sure you will like the account

Hi, saw this and a similiar thread so have applied for a citi bank account, i could really use the visa debit card....could use an OD as well tbh but i doubt i will get that.

Only thing is...i forgot to select that i didnt need an OD..and i'm hoping they will get back to me when i return the forms saying they accept but i cant have the overdraft....

Surely they arent likely to reject me completely because i didnt tick the box??...i'll settle for just the account and visa debit card mr citi bank!

does anyone have experience of a similiar situation with them?

I doubt they will decline you just because you asked for an Overdraft, From mind I think that the majority of people who applied for this accont did not ask for the OD. They will either give you the account or not.

They may also give you the account less the OD and tell you to apply for OD in so many months

    Good luck all the same

I just don't get it...i mean...ok...my credit is bad..but i'm not bankrupt...i dont have ccj's...i have about 5 defaults. but i also have a mortgage, credit card, mobile phone contract...its not like i'm a total lost cause...

it says i was refused because i didnt meet thier minimum 'credit score'.

    Hi,

    Hopefully someone can help me.

I applied for the Citibank Current Acct, the application was unsuccessful. Is it worth my while appealing.

I have 2 defaults and am in the process of arranging payment plans to pay the debt off but i also want a current acct to help me start reparing my credit file.

Can anyone suggest a provider who can approve a current acct with my sort of back ground.

Any help is really really appreciated.

    Cheers,
    john.

With two defaults (which you hope to pay off at some point in the future), you’ll have problems opening a current account with any bank.

Go for a basic one instead.

secue and mj07 I'm in the same boat as you.

I am considering an appeal as my credit is not fanatastic but after reading some of the posts on this htread I thought I had a good shout getting accepted.

I have a surplus in my bank account every month and didn't even ask for an overdraft, just needed a Visa card to make things a little easier, a basic cash card is just not good enough.

However I'm also not sure how to go about wording the appeal.

You can rejig this one if you want:
    Dear Sir

    Ref: xxxxxxxx

I recently applied for a Citibank Sterling Current Account, however, I have since received a letter informing me I have been declined. I would like to appeal this decision.

<<Explain your residential status, how long you have lived there. Detail your employment status, how long you have worked there and gross annual income. Also list any other household income including tax credits and any state benefits such as DLA.>>

    My current credit agreements include:

<<list them and state you have a good payment record which you hope will count in your favour>>

I also enclose statements from my present account and savings account. All my income and outgoings are clearly listed.

If you require any further information please do not hesitate to get into contact.

    Yours faithfully
