when I had a citicard I couldnt use it for online purchases. Because its an american company and something to do with the way that the expiry date was written I was told by Citibank.

Only a few websites would allow me to use it.

I cant understand that at all, I have used my card online atleast 50/60 times and never had any trouble what so ever.

What sites are you talking about?

  • Got the application pack through this morning, called them to say i had no cheque book, got told not to worry just pop a cover letter in explaining that. Have put an extra form of ID in just for good measure so fingers crossed !!
  • Hi, no they dont credit check you, simply do a background check, but providing your not bankrupt you will get it 100% with the maestro card. Im with them and never had one problem with the card or the bank, they are superb.

I have started the process of trying to recover charges (from both bank accounts and credit cards) and after reading the process through on other forums, the first step was to open a backup account. It seemed Citibank was best.

After submitting the returned application form and supplying a cheque and proof of ID/address, I have just received a letter informing me that I failed to achieve their "minimum credit score requirement".

And I thought they were the easiest!
I don't have any CCJ's nor am I bankrupt, although I have several defaults.

They have tightened up on their acceptance policy (ten-fold it seems) in the last couple of months ... At the begining of the year, nearly everyone was accepted - now it's a different story ...

I applied a couple of weeks ago, called them today and my application has been accepted and my welcome pack was sent a few days ago. I've got two CCJ's (settled) and a poor credit history but still got the nod.
