Buying from ebay is not a problem with the citi card the problem is that you cant register it with your account to receive the money.

    Hi

I applied for the basic bank account with citibank as mentioned on this thread, and have just had a letter back refusing my application because of my credit score. I thought for a basic bank account they didn't do the credit check is this right?

I now need to find a basic bank account quick for my DMP any suggestions ?
    thanks for any replies

Natwest step account was okay for me, easy to use and 'real time' online balance.

    the access account.
    they are both current accounts,
only one you have to pay for the other you dont
you get an OD with both
you get a visa card with both
the only difference is with the plus account you are guaranteed a cheque guarantee card and cheque book
I think what you or anyone else needs to do is sit down and ask yourselves what do I want from this account, then go for which ever suits you best.

You're not guaranteed to get a 3-in-1 card (cheque guarantee) with the Citibank Plus account.

I've just opened a Plus account expecting to get a cheque guarantee card, only to receive the 2-in-1 card which has no guarantee function.

Think I might as well switch to their Access account as I don't need insurance etc.

I just saw my experian credit report and was amazed to see that citibank with whom I have got a full current account with did only do an enquiry check and halifax and nationwide with whom I have basic accounts with did full current account checks even for their basic accounts.

This is the same as my credit file too, I only assume Citi do a full check on every so many applications, as my friend had s full check done.

I have just applied to Halifax so will see how that goes.

I thought that the citibank was a basic account as so many people had referred to it as that, I just can't believe that I was refused I have no ccj, not declared bankrupt just struggling to pay the credit card bills and about to start a dmp. I know my credit score is rubbish but not that bad!

oh well I just stop worrying about the things I can't change and change the stuff I can.:rotfl:
