Recent CitiBank Applicant?

Hope you are all well.

I have been reading the messages on here for a few weeks but this is my first message! woo. lol

I have recently applied for a citi account and received my application pack a few days ago and yet to send it back.

I have a VERY bad credit history, due to been young and daft! I have really really struggled to get a bank account, I have been using a Lloyds TSB cash account, which is a pain in the backside as i can only take cash out at a Lloyds cash machine.....pain!

I applied for a few accounts online last month, was declined for a few but managed to open a Halifax easycash account......i really don't know how, they didn't even send anything for me to sign and didn't request and Id etc. I just received a welcome pack and a card, i was very shocked as i have about 7 defaults and a few CCJ's.

I am using the halifax account at the moment but really would like the visa facility with the citi account................

so fingers crossed for me guys!!

P.S Thanks for all the info people post on here, i have received some brill advice!

So people think because it has been posted all over the internet they have now wisened up and are being stricter?

So someone like me that has 2 defaults from over 5yrs ago that applied this week might not get an account but someone with ccj's and defaults that applied a month ago will.

Hardly fair is it.

I think they had a minimum target of accounts which has been achieved. Owing to that they are much stricter now regarding the new applicants.

Not fair at all really is it...........

Surely they can't change there criteria over night..................and why would employees of citi be reading this and thinking "we must make our criteria strict!?"......................Citi are making money from all the custom.

I'd wait and see what happens first before worrying .... people are still posting on here and are being accepted ...

With regard to the last few unfortunate people who have been declined do you not feel it might have something to do with the very recent changes to the Citibank account, mainly the charging of £10 from next month.

Maybe they feel that they wont get as much money from certain people when it changes.

Just a thought.

I rang them today explaining I have no cheque book or bills as they're all inclusive in my rent and was told to just send a letter stating so and just my bank statements??

Hmmmm .....

Thats ok ... that's what they told me ... except they didn't even say about sending bank statements ... but I did send some extra ID anyway ...
