Can think wht they are referring to you as a premium customer? There is nothing on there website about a premium account.
RE your ID, I have read that a few people have had to do that in order to get this account. I myself did not have a cheque book, I just sent them a letter saying further to a conversation with your staff regarding myself not having a cheque book, please find enclosed the required ID to open my account. I sent Council Tax bill, Driving Licence, Passport, wage slip and a bank statement. They accepted that and all is fine now.If I have been helpful - Hit the Thanks button0 -
Since people are asking a lot of questions about Citi bank current account I thought I might answer a few questions.
How do I know what account I have?
If you applied through Quidco then you will automatically be upgraded to Citi bank Plus account. If you did not apply via Quidco then simply call Citi Bank on 0800 005500 and ask a member of staff which account you have.
I have a Plus account will I really pay £10.00 per month?
Yes you will from the 1st of April 2007 you will pay a fee of £10.00 per month which is deducted on the last working day of each month from your account.
What do I get for my £10.00 per month?
Annual Travel insurance for you and your partner.
You must be between 18 and 65
Cover up to 90days – 30 days max per trip
Medical expenses and Personal Liability of £2.000.000 each
Covers Delay. Personal Property, Lost luggage, Money, Missed departure.
*You can also upgrade to include children and or winter sports
Mobile Phone insurance
Identity theft protection
Card protection for all cards including non-Citi cards.
Interest from day one when cheque is put in account
Interest free £500 overdraft subject to status
Chequebook
Please note that after 3mths of having this account and you have operated it well you will be able to get a cheque guarantee card.
What if I don’t want this account?
You can easily downgrade to the access account which offers similar benefits such as chequebook, debit card, online banking. You will not get the above benefits such as insurance, fraud protection etc.
I would strongly advise people who have applied for this account via Quidco to keep it until they get their £50.00.
The plus account was previously known as the Sterling account.
Change you account from Plus to access by calling free phone 0800 00 55 00,
What type of card will I get?
This varies from person to person, you will either get a Visa debit card or you will get a Visa Debit card, which also acts a cheque guarantee card.
How do I get a chequebook?
Easy just call them or send them a secure message Via Citibank online to request one and you will get it within 4/5 days.
How do I pay money in to my account?
A few ways this can be done,
Via any LLOYDS bank – This can take up to 4 days to show in your account.
You can transfer money from any other account you have to this account- The time will vary depending on what time of day you request the transaction.
You can send cheques to the branch in England along with your pay in slip – Pay in books are available on request.
How can I access my money?
At any ATM that displays the Visa sign – Please beware that certain ATM’s make a charge for using them. Citi bank is unable to wave this charge, as they do not apply
It.
Get cash back when you use your debit card in a retail outlet – Max is £50 per transaction.
You can use your card online to pay for goods and services.
What’s the online banking like?
Personally I say its much better than other banks as it is user friendly, You can easily check balance, transfer money, pay bills, set up SO, cancel DD, many more things including sending messages to Citi bank.
Telephone banking?
Free phone call 24hrs a day, Ok their call centre is abroad but there staff speak good English and are very polite. Expect to be asked for your T Pin and to confirm certain details.
I hope this answers a few questions that some people may have. :jIf I have been helpful - Hit the Thanks button0 -

I applied for the Citibank account and coz I don't have a cheque book I sent colour photo-copy of driving licence with electric bill. Citibank have sent me letter asking for 'certified' copy of passport OR driving licence signed and stamped by a solicitor or bank/building society official as 'true copy of original'.As I bank with the co-op I don't have a local branch and I don't live near a Citibank branch. So it looks like I'll either have to pay a solicitor or ask Nationwide (I have a basic savings account with them) to oblige.
Anyone else had all this carry on?
Did phone Citibank but they're insisting on 'certified copies'
No, I didn't need to send them any certified copies of Passport or DL. Like marcellep, I did send a letter saying I didnt have a cheque book and also 2 original bills for inspection. I'm also on electoral roll ... don't know if that makes any difference ...:happylove Tori Bellatrix :happylove

I had this exactly, I asked Nationwide to oblige and they said they are not allowed to certify any documents these days ended up sending my orignal driving licence0 -
Hmmmm ... They do seem a bit inconsitent in their ID&V process don't they ... are those who needed to send certified copies on the electoral roll? .. or did you send in any letters with your applications?:happylove Tori Bellatrix :happylove
