    It has been a week now since I sent the application but no reply yet. Shall I contact them? I dont have the application reference number, so what shall I tell & ask them?

    A week is a very short period of time. At least allow another 7 days before considering contacting them.

    mastercard/maestro/link sign is displayed.

    Obviously though the Visa Debit card cannot be used at places displaying these items unless visa is also mentioned ;)

    Ofc, Visa is widly accepted so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

    Yep, that's right! Visa Dellta IS Visa whereas a Visa Electron is a "basic" debit card if you like, not accepted at all outlets.

    I used to work for Citi and I would expect a response by now. They could have a back log of new applications? I would give it a couple of days and then call, it wont do any harm to check it out

    As others have said hold off just now, I suspect they are very very busy with all the applications. Mines taken just under two weeks so wait till about the 14th day then call them. Remember Sat/Sun are not working days.
