so here's hoping I'm in as could use some good luck, havent had any for a while, my cooker died just before xmas, bought a new one, 081206 thats got a problem and the engineer is coming out on wednesday to have a look at it, then the fridge/freezer went in between xmas and new year so I'm just waiting to get paid on the 24/01 so I can buy a new one, and my son's pc conked out, cost me £115. to get it sorted , then my pc broke, cost another £120, to sort that which I'm hoping to fix tomorrow. so I could do with some good luck. talk about a bad year I've just had the worst month of my life.

I am not sure of CitiBank's origins, but I do know that it is a massive international bank with a significant UK presence (CitiGroup).

Also, any bank trading in the UK has to comply with the relevant UK legislation which includes complying with all the laws and rules set by the FSA.

Which means that CitiBank will use the UK Credit Reference agencies just like any other bank.

Hmmm, just had a very strange phonecall from Citibank!

A few days ago, I ordered a chequebook through the online banking service. Well I just had a phonecall from Citibank to say that They need me to credit the account with £2000 before they can issue a chequebook  I'm not bothered about a chequebook really but i ordered one as my card has the £100 cheque guarantee included so i thought i may as well! Just thought i would let others know what they said in case anyone is counting on the cheques! I dont mind not having one as i have other chequebooks and i barely use them anyway but i know some of you are counting on one.

sorry to quote from my own message.

I just phoned citibank and they state that maintaining a £2000 balance is a condition of recieving a chequebook with my sterling current account. I asked if it is because i have a cheque guarantee card and she said it was but hey, nevermind lol.

Just wondered if anyone who isnt depositing a salary has a 3 in 1 card and has been sent a chequebook out of interest?

  • sorry if I've caused abit of confusion with the USA bank thing, but I've tried TSB, barclays, hsbc, yorkshire bank, natwest, halifax, and I cant remember who else, and they all said no no no, and I did'nt even send a cheque as I havent got a cheque book, just 3 types of ID, but I found this on the citibank website
In 1812 Citibank opened for business in New York. Over the course of its rich history Citibank has continued to grow and prosper with its customers. Whilst we have been in the UK for over 100 years, we opened our first retail banking branch on the Strand in London in 1995 and now have UK branches in both London and Manchester.
Our extensive range of consumer products and services now includes current and savings accounts, 24 hour telephone banking, Citibank Online, investment services, mortgages, and CitiGold International Wealth Management.
Citibank is part of Citigroup Inc., today’s pre-eminent financial services company, with some 200 million customer accounts in more than 100 countries. Citigroup Inc. provides consumers, corporations, governments and institutions with a broad range of financial products and services, including consumer banking and credit, corporate and investment banking, insurance, securities brokerage and asset management.
Other major brand names under Citigroup’s trademark red umbrella include: CitiCards, CitiFinancial, CitiMortgage, CitiSolutions, Diners Club, Citigroup Asset Management, The Citigroup Private Bank and CitiCapital.

this is why I thought they were from the USA but never mind I don't care where there from they've given me an account so I love them.
