Thanks for this thread. I am about to try and claim back 2k+ charges from Norwich & Peterborough and needed another account with a cheque book. My credit history is bad but I am encouraged by the posts on here from people in a similar situation who have been successful. Iwill let you all know how I get on

    Thanks guys

Blimey, you have been busy posting a lot of messages in the last 14 days!

Good luck with reclaiming your bank charges and getting a new account though!

  • Canaan,
Go for it, they have been well worth applying for in my opinion, I rang today to inform them I was going to be travelling abroad soon and I will be using my Visa card abroad, hence, a please don't put a stop on it and they couldn't more be helpful.
I don't really like outsourced call centres but I cannnot fault the service from application onwards.
I am glad you feel encouraged to apply to Citibank, let us know if you have any questions throughout your application.

  • Received my PIN numbers on Saturday - no welcome pack yet though.

Anyone know how long it takes for the rest of the stuff to arrive?

I am very interested in this Citibank account however the terms and conditions seem to suggest that I must deposit a salary of £1500 a month, I currently only earn around £1000 per month, anyone else here opened an account earning less than £1500 per month??

I've been sent a debit card AND a cheque book, and I earn well under £1500 per month AND I'm not even paying my wages into the Citibank account! Just make sure when you apply you don't ask for the overdraft facility.

I got my debit card two days after receiving my PIN numbers, got a welcome letter rather than a pack but once you have your card you need to ring up to regsiter your card as having arrived and ask the advisor to order your cheque book and paying in book, alternatively you can request these online once you have received and activated your card. I received my cheque book 3 days after requesting one on the phone and paying in book arrived at the same time.

Do you have a chequebook? If not, send them a copy of the photo page of your passport or your photocard driving licence and a cover letter to say you don't currently have a cheque book, rather than they come back to you requesting further ID, this apparently saves time if you don't have a cheque to send.

I am sure you will get the account, my husband's credit rating is poor and mine is good yet we couldn't get a joint current account anywhere and this has been a godsend to us, have decided to switch all my banking over to them now!
