    :j :j  Happy Birthday Queenie! :j :j

Bargain Rzl - gosh! Do you actually have any time to sit down on your lovely new sofas?! You're a busy bee!

Well, I've been to the market at Melton Mowbray and got a couple of pork pies (naturally!) and a lovely looking salmon and brocolli pie for supper. DH doesn't know it yet...... :D I went with my MIL, SIL and little squawky nephew/god son. However, after he'd smashed a bauble in the WI Craft Market (on the Christmas tree, not one on the stall!) we made a quick exit out of there!

I've also........... drum roll please................. phoned my old supply agency. It's taken me blimming ages to do because I've been finding excuses not to call (eg phone battery is flat, it's "too late" in the day, there'll be no work until after Christmas anyway.... you get the idea) and to be honest, I've lost alot of confidence over recent months. However, they used to treat me so well at the supply agency AND they always gave me loads of work. They're so nice and anyway, they're calling me back (they've just actually called to say that they're a bit busy but will call me back within an hour) about getting more work. Bless them! I can see that my confidence may be sorted out quite quickly, if not before Christmas, then definitely after!

Better go for now as I seemed to avoid doing that large pile of ironing yesterday by phoning a couple of friends that I hadn't spoken to for quite a while .

    Bye for now

I haven't been on for ages, not been well, but I have been reading and keeping up with all the goings on.
I have still managed to be OS, it's the only way I know at my age! I'm so glad that I have two freezers so that I can just drag something out when necessary. I must confess though, I threw some chilli away the other day, we didn't fancy it after it defrosted so we had fish and chips. Very naughty but not very often.
Everyone seems so busy with all the Christmas preparations, I don't have much to do, we only have a small family and Christmas is a sad time for me. I have bought the meat for the dinner, we decided to have beef this year and I spotted just what I wanted in the reduced section at Sainsburys, so thats safely in the freezer and I saved £6.
We went to the outlet village this morning and got the last of the presents and I bought some more dinner plates that we use for everyday, they are discontinued so had an extra reduction. We didn't stay long because it was cold and I was in my wheelchair which is not a warm way to travel, I'm always frozen.
Good wishes to anyone celebrating birthdays, new babys or new homes etc.
Lamb shanks for dinner tonight, they are in the slow cooker with tomatoes, garlic, rosemary and red wine.
    Have a good evening.

  • Feel lousy today. Called the Council Tax folk re the fact that we haven't paid our Council Tax all year!!! They only tell us now we owe £738!!!! I thought it was going out of OH account, he never thought about it at all!!!! The nice lady at the council said we have to pay it all by tomorrow. I pointed out to her that I did not have it, that we had always paid on time before and that I could set up a direct debit to sort it out monthly - but she said no - in fact if we didn't pay by tomorrow the whole £1106 would be payable by the day after!!!!

I was amazed, apparently we have to pay what we can by tomorrow and then they will take us to court and then, and only then can we talk about a payment scheme! So tomorrow I will toddle into town pay £200 and then sit back and wait for the court to say that I have to pay what I want to pay anyway. The nice lady did say that it won't affect my credit rating as it is magistrates court. I said as a bankrupt it can't get much worse!!!

So that done, dogs taken to groomers, cards sent for Xmas, washing machine done 2 loads, 20 to go but can't get the stuff dry, spare rooms sorted so we can get in it and wedding anniversary pressie wrapped for OH - 2 years tomorrow. Oh and I did a mystery shop today as well, don't seem to be being paid for the ones I have done, need to chase that tomorrw. Tomorrow is going to be busy.

OH away tonight so don't have to cook properly so will have something on toast and a mince pie.

Sorry I haven't read all the posting for today. But hugs and love to all that need it.

Afternoon - Hope we are all well

So glad to have finished work, the other girls seems to have calmed down ref car insurance hunting, and actually doing some work. Another girl is off sick, so I offered to stay an extra hr to help out. Show my goodwill,

Well done ftbworried on your new found adventure - keep up the goodwork and dont let hubby laugh at you. He should be praising you in your efforts.

Wellcome back Quasar - still appreciate any tips, even tho if they have been re-peated, helps us newbies along the way.

Well done Penny Pincher for your haggle with the warranty - cant fault you there, my OH has learned to haggle, when we 1st met he would accept things at face value - not no more.

OH text this morning to say he got soaked thru walking to work. (his car still off the road) sorry taplady - no kisses at the end of his text 2day, so who knows what tonight will bring - lol. I'll be busy anyway to be majorly concerned, as I'll be ferrying the kids too and from cubs/scouts. Trouble is, Im too stubborn to give in so easily. If he's upset me, I make sure he knows it. Childish I know, but it takes me a while to come round.

Off to get the ironing done now before I fetch OH from work. (i could be mean and let him walk home) but Im not that cruel.

    Take care everyone
    Love as usual

    I've been Money Tipped!
41 cookies so far! (well 39 now - had to test them after all!:rotfl: ) I have loads more dough left but needed a rest. Made hearts, stars, windmills (traditional dutch shape) Christmas trees and gingerbread men. They are yummy, not quite the consistancy I remember, as the cookies I had as a child were crumblier but the taste is spot on :j . I added (for a double batch) 2 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp cardamon (only had the whole cardamon so had to get out mortar and pestle) 1 tsp mace, 1 tsp ground cloves, 1/2 tsp ginger and 1/2 tsp nutmeg. I think the recipe varied according to the town they were made in. Anyway thanks Kethry you're a star!:T

I now have to go tidy up kitchen so I can find something for oh's dinner!

Nice to see you posting on here again Tootles! We have missed you!

I know :o It was sort of unintentional! Most of the time these days, I go out in the evenings around twice a week, which suits me. However I knew I had these three mad weeks coming up (starting with the week before last) and it was really just the fact that my flat purchase took so long (had thought I'd be completing sometime in October, but it wasn't until 22nd November!) that meant I had to fit the move in amid all the other stuff - then of course my grandma died so I had to cram in the trip to the funeral as well. I could have opted to delay completion on the flat until maybe next week, when everything's calmed down, but believe me, I'm SOOOOO glad I chose to do it the hard way because it means I've got it all out of the way already.

Well, nearly out of the way. I still have to unpack - and that could take a while, because I don't have enough shelving to unpack INTO :o Still, I have a friend who lives a couple of blocks away who has hinted that he needs to get rid of some stuff and I suspect he can't be bothered with Freecycle, so I might see if he has anything I can put to good use.

I'm really looking forward to spending MORE time at home now the sofas are there :D and more still once my internet connection is sorted :D

How's your move going Vicky? Sorry I haven't really been keeping up with the news.

It's not! The first 2 houses that we put in offers on, the vendors pulled out on us......... the first one costing us £700 . Then we put an offer in on a third house, only for my work to go t*ts up (basically I was a soft target and the head was bullying me) and I'm currently "between jobs".
