Hello
At work yet again. Got a long day today, as I've got a late appointment, which will probably go on until midnight. Oh well, such is life
Dolled myself up to make myself feel better.
Weather here is horrible and I've spent all morning signing the work Christmas cards - fun!!

happy birthday Queenie and Mrs Moreland!
welcome to ftbworried and welcome back Quasar!
managed to get lots of stuff done yesterday; 6 lavender bags, 8 rice bags, christmas table runner with 5 matching napkin rings, a *mumble* (pressie for someone who reads here) and i made cottage pie for dinner - made some extra as i won't have the oven tonight and jam roly poly from sunday's leftover suet pastry (which was.. hmm.. interesting.. LOL).
we're running an experiment today - an ongoing dispute with the gas company (powergen) which i ain't gonna go into here has left us not knowing whether the issue is with prices or what.. however, a salesman from british gas turned up and after looking at our meter, and history of useage, and seeing our tiny flat, reckons there's something wrong with the meter, because it should be impossible for us to use the amount of units that we have, given the size of the flat. So we've turned the gas off (heating and water, not using the cooker) and going to see if the meter turns. if it does.. we know we've got a problem. So for 24 hours, we're doing without hotwater, cooking gas and heating - should be interesting!
tonight's dinner will be leftover cottage pie and some extra mince, which i might serve with some rice or something. Fortunately we've still got the microwave. Today's plans involve more sewing - i was going to make a christmas tree skirt but OH says we can use an old green tablecloth and just wrap it around the legs, so we'll do that - save me making one. i'm gonna check i've done all the small itty bitty stuff, except the stockings, and then sweep the (laminate) floor, so that the floor is clean and dust free, and then spread out the velvet and get to work on the quilt. thats the biggest pressie and its going to take a few days to finish i think - and i'm painfully aware that time is running out. Once the quilt's done, i can relax. Still got stuff to do after that but the quilt is the biggie.
hope everyone has a good day!!! oh, and Catznine: enjoy your cookies!

Afternoon guys!
Feeling abit better now:D OH dragged me off to Comet to sort WM as he's had enough of taking washing to FIL's. Got a great bargain and even managed to get another £60 off the extended 5yr cover. OH was embarrased...as the manager asked us if we wanted the extended guarantee...I said yes but not at £159.99 I didnt!!...If you dont ask...you dont get! So we are all done and dusted till 2011...gosh...dd will be nearly 17:eek:       ...OMG.....and I'll be 37:eek:             ...I checked it all with Which magazine etc and think we got a good deal;) ...its a 7.5kg load one, so should save us a couple of loads a week..fingers x'd! They are even taking our old machine for us:cool:
OH has the 2nd hand uniform shop today, so he will be there till about 4pm. Asked him if he can look out for a couple of PE poloshirts and a couple of V-neck jumpers. They are soooo expensive from the retailer and we just swap what we have for the items we need....so in effect it shouldnt cost us anything more:j Uniforms are so dear! £15 for a blouse is stupid, so last month OH bought a few spare ones in her current size and next one at about £1 each...but think he got a load of stuff he wanted for a few quid...probably chatted up the lady he works with:rolleyes: .....anything for a discount:D
Anyway, going to go and do some reading for me essay.
Dinner: HM Chicken Pie (leftovers), Roast and leftover veg

Hi everyone!
Not yet read the thread but hugs to those who need them.
Nothing terribly racy going on here in Ariland today. Having said I was going to get all my cards written last night I managed the grand total of 10. First one friend rang and we nattered for an hour. Put it down and then another one rang for a similar amount of time by which time it was bedtime!! Shame...oh heck I shall have to do them instead tonight!
OS today has been the usual whizz round and tidy up and the bathroom has had a decent going over. Have also sorted out a pile of clean washing. Will need to pick up some fruit and veg on the way home and return some library books. Small person is currently into the Secret 7 and is going through them like wildfire.
I've just made a new friend recently who's invited me over for a Yule celebration and nibbles which was a lovely surprise.
Tea tonight is to be sardine burgers. OH and I will also need to update weekly and monthly accounts.
See I said it was all pretty gripping stuff today didn't I!!
Have a fabby day!
Aril

Afternoon everybody :hello:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY QUEENIE!!!
Well I don't want to say this too loudly in case I jinx it, but I *think* life is about to start returning to normal :shhh:
In the last 2 weeks I have:
*been to Edinburgh
*moved house, although I've been away for six of the 12 nights I've lived there
*been to Durham and Northumberland
*been to Cardiff
*been to EIGHT operas and ONE concert
*spent over two months' salary :eek: even though the vast majority was on furniture and appliances and all was planned expenditure.
I'd been off work for most of the last two weeks thanks to moving, going away, going to Grandma's funeral and having stuff delivered, and I had to take an extra half day off this morning so Argos could bring me my sofas. Yes, that's sofas, plural - I have bought 2 (a big sofabed and a matching smaller sofa) so that I could create a cosy "sitting-room area" in my open-plan living/dining/kitchen room - and although the delivery men were VERY mardy about delivering to an upstairs flat (oh come on guys, it's what they pay you for, it's only the first floor, and I DID say on my order that it was upstairs with no lift!) and after they'd gone I had the task of tipping the great big heavy things upside down to unwrap them and screw the feet on, they are now in place, VERY comfy and VERY smart. So despite all the zillions of boxes still to be unpacked, the flat actually resembles a home now instead of a storage lock-up (no more sitting in a camping chair to watch telly, though the beer-can holder in the arm made a handy pouch for the remote control).
The other thing Argos brought me this morning was my flatpacked wardrobe, which I will need to put together at the weekend because I can't face it until thenand besides, I am also going out 4 nights this week (phew!)
Oh and guess what, because me and my friends were in self-catering accommodation for our trip to Cardiff and didn't eat out at all, I UNDERSPENT :j :j even though I succumbed to the lure of TK Maxx where I bought six very funky and still bl**dy expensive even after the whacking great TK Maxx discount pink and cream coffee mugs, plus a gorgeous handbag which just seemed to jump out and say "buy me" but at least it was only £10
Phone is being connected on Saturday so I'll at least have dial-up internet soon, though hopefully I'll get broadband sorted out before too long.
Sorry for rambling on, and it's good to be back!
