  • Iv had this discussion with customers several times especially when they have bought for example 3 copies of the same DVD which are priced at £15 and scan at £20 - This is one of the ways you can easily identify customers abusing the policy and either get them banned or personally host and call every local store in the area with full details of the customer.

you are now on my ignore list as you really are very very boring

    yawn :o

I did that bit too and I still walked out having been overcharged!
I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

    I was joking !

I always always say " I THINK i've been OVERCHARGED" wait for their course of action, act surprised and very pleased when offered full refund, or courteous question of "oh I just noticed that blue sign saying in the unlikely event", don't argue to long with CS staff ask for a manager if CS are being obstructive.

Always stay calm, polite and courteous

Thats kind of what i was planning to do, although not the sign part. I didnt realise they had a sign and that was the bit i was nervous about - if they wouldn't give a refund i would turn into a mumbling idiot...

If your store is doing that, I do hope you have an appointed and named Data Controller who has a full understanding of the DPA and the issues involved with data handling. There are very strict rules laid down on the use of data pertaining to the individual. I have a feeling that what you are doing (hosting personal details, descriptions, etc to other stores) breaches the Data Protection Act.

Would you think this would also apply to this (cant remember the name of it)
vehicle licence plate recognition thing talked about 30 posts or so ago, and would Tesco's have a valid reason under DPA to request details from DVLC or whoever.

I mean...."Well DVLC...we overcharged her, and the cheeky bug*er wanted a refund"..........shouldnt hold much water
    Couponing....."every little hurts"

I usually say "Can I have my r&r please"

Whilst that made me laugh out loud, it's a bit cruel!!!

Kim, when I found the tesco threads, I sat and read it for a week or two before doing anything, just to get an idea of what the hell was going on.

Can I suggest, Kim, that you have a look at the first page of the thread and read it through - there are lots of hints, tips and advice.

I simply say that I think I've been overcharged. I take the CSA to where the SEL (shelf edge label) is and point to it saying "look, there, it definately says £3.19 and I've been charged £3.48". I wait for them to respond. If they don't offer a full refund, I point to the blue board and ask them about their policy. Always be calm, never rude. Don't go shouting from the roof tops for £2 worth of meat - you just get yourself known quicker. There will be bigger fish to fry.

You'll be fine !, and don't worry if there isn't a sign, you mention that you made aware of the policy by a really kind lady at another store (mention a very small item)
