  • To an extent i agree with what you have written but whatever reply i put it it will ridiculed and pulled to bits as usually happens on this forum.

The reason so many staff get 'tetchy' about the r+r policy is because literally all day you are dealing with customers who after giving a full refund, being polite etc, then give you a sly smile and tell you to read this site. Many staff simply frustrated with this now make the refund process as drawn out and sometimes as difficult as possible because people have spoiled it by becoming cocky and !!!!ing staff off.
In a way, you've helped clarify my point. The customers are easy targets for staff to take out their frustrations. However, it's wrong for staff to target customers (yes, even those who purposely seek out mispriced items), as the customers are not to blame for the problems. If HO completely ignores store staff and causes these !!!! ups time and time again, then the stores need to take some sort of action against HO. Focus your attention on the real cause of the problem - TESCO HO. You can't really blame ordinary people for taking advantage of a situation repeatedly caused by your employer.

My solution to the problem is for stores to keep doing what they are physically able to do in regards to the constant price changes. As HO asks the impossible of stores by changing the prices so frequently, there will always be mispriced items on the shelf. When these are spotted by R&Rers, let them have their refunds. Don't follow them around the store or ban them. Don't argue with them, or lie to them. Give them the money back, as per the policy. If you let this happen often enough, HO will start to take notice. If HO then starts complaining about it, explain that there's nothing you can do, as there are not enough staff in store to fully complete the tasks laid out by HO on a daily basis. If all stores did this, HO would not be able to ignore the problems any more. Hell, start working to rule! Go on strike? Work with your customers (not against them), who are just as !!!!ed off and frustrated with the situation as you are.

I guess what I'm saying is that ALL STORES should make the effort to let customers have their full refunds whenever there has been an overcharge, regardless of whether you think the customer is taking the !!!!. HO will soon start taking notice if ALL STORES started losing a lot of money this way. If all store staff worked to rule, there would be no end of misprices left on the shelf. I think your employer treats staff like !!!!. Both you and Constantine go way beyond what is required of you by Mr. T in respects to what you do for your store. Sitting here seeing which items are mispriced in your own FREE TIME is beyond what you're being paid for. Stop doing it. Let TESCO STORES LTD start really losing money. You don't owe Tesco Stores Ltd your loyalty when they couldn't give a !!!! about you.

One more point: I wish people here would make the distinction between Tesco Stores Ltd and the staff employed by Tesco Stores Ltd. The staff are frustrated, yes. There's no excuse for poor customer service. However, most staff are friendly to customers even though they are treated like !!!! by their employer. I, for one, hate Tesco Stores Ltd with a passion. I do not, however, take it out on store staff employed by Tesco Stores Ltd.

  • Tesco have been trialling this for years - I believe the trial started in the Tesco Hove Superstore, I don't think it will catch on anytime soon as a nationwide rollout
Indeed they have. I was under the assumption that it was only being trialled in the fish and meat counters though. Is that correct?
No R&Rs there so its a moot point.

LED pricing will not change the fact that Tesco's marketing department are not as sharp as they like to think they are.

I think most people are interested in your POV about 'Takens post so please share with us. We know your views about R&R, and respect them, but this isn't really about the ethics of R&Ring just the attitude of CS staff. Anything from a CS side would help people to understand that they have a very difficult job to do, and might augur a change in attitudes, at least in some.

The fact that Tesco are relying upon a public forum to correct their own errors is really quite incredible and clearly demonstrates the internal struggles that they must be facing.

They are not relying on this forum but would be stupid not to use the information contained here - After all 'Every Little Helps'

It was trialled across the entire store - Its had its problems and is very expensive to rollout across the entire estate. The plus side to this is of course Stores also have the option to change prices/errors staright away.

Complaints from customers have been mainly around the fact that it is difficult to see the prices on the screens.

So your telling me people only shop at Tesco because of their refund policy?? That is an absurd comment so if Tesco suddenly stopped offering r+r or sorted out their pricing issues then they would not longer be market leaders?? Tesco currently have over 30% market share (Double the amount of Sainsbury's and Asda).

Christmas trading is also ahead of plan despite a few glitches with some 'dead' products which are being successfully being cleared out of the business with strong offers etc,

Until I found this thread, I hadn't shopped in Tesco for years, now I only shop there, as I feel I am getting my own back for all the years they overcharged me! And as for using this forum to spot misprices, I actually told one of my regular haunts about a misprice for 4 weeks, before they removed it! I was sick of the god damn things! lol

    .

I purposely avoided mentioning the marketing dept! I know how store management feels about that little section of the Tesco heirarchy! ;)
