Good. About time more Tesco Employee's took notice of this site and took a more active roll in improving the Price Integrity of their stores. It is an area of store operations that is sadly overlooked by too many, imo.

If those Hosts encourage just one person to improve their store, then thats a good thing I reckon.

    Welcome.

Tesco should be proactive with their pricing integrity not reactive. I think it is a sad indictment of a company when they have to resort to using a website chat thread to improve their 'stores'. This tells me that if it were not for people actively r&ring many Tesco stores would be in a worse state in regards to incorrect pricing than they are now.

Tesco can easily stop r&r without withdrawing the policy by improving pricing integrity across the company.

    NO WRONG PRICES, NO R&R.

    Totally agree with FloFlo.

If you did your job properly in the first place NO ONE would be overcharged.

Congratulations on removing out of date SEL's but why were they there?

Because someone had been lazy or forgetful.

Most of us r & r'ers discovered this site after having been misled by Tesco for years.

If shoppers who spend thirty minutes in a store can find half a dozen misprices, why can't a store manager who has staff there 24/7

If you did your jobs properly there would be no overcharges and a lot fewer children with beaming smiles on Christmas day as they open their new xboxes, PS2s, DS Lites ...............!

sorry, this thread isn't a bargain and should be moved or merged IMHO

The problem in my local Tesco is that overcharges/misprices are quite difficult to identify on anything other than products sold by weight, the occasional out-of-date SEL and the odd phone if you're lucky.

    Why? Because

    a) they don't put the yellow sticky price labels on ANY DVDs/CDs/Books/Games/Electronics.
    b) they are very good at removing expired SELs
    c) Products sold by weight are regularly checked for price integrity - there are yellow price correction stickers all over the meat fridges!

So, as for a) and b) their overcharging carries on unashamedly and for c) they seem to have a couple of staff whop do nothing but price checking now!!

    NO WRONG PRICES, NO R&R.

They're probably using the policy to their advantage. A few thousand un-noticed incorrect prices passing through the tills against a few hundred r&r's.

It only goes pair shape when a high price items is misspriced and the info spread around the forums before they've had time to correct them.

They're also attracting customers (from here etc..) who would normally do their shop elsewhere. I must have been 8 times in past 3 weeks and to 4 different store, all with r&r in the back of my mind. But I never came across any and still spent £40-£50 on other stuff. Waisting petrol, waisting time... Adding to Tesco profits :(

Good! If all SELs tally with the prices at the tills then it will slash your company's massive profits.

My experience is that the means of correcting a mis price is to remove the lower price or offer sel and therefore "legitimately" charge the higher price. Now if Tescos were better at doing this then would they not always charge the higher price and increase profits...

I think we will see more situations where there are no sels or only higher priced sels even though meat or fish might have a lower price pr kg on the pack than the SEL - therefore no "overcharge" and no RnR, but no loss to profitability

  • I has been pointed out many times that Tesco are aware of this site therefore if people wanted Tesco not to find out about overcharges they could use another site that Tesco did not know about such as Laura's.

But as they don't if there are overcharges it is Tesco's fault and cannot complain as they have all the information to correct it!

Therefore TS coould fine Tesco's for more than just overcharging as not only are they overchargeing but as they are being made aware of it and still not correcting them. Something to do with duty of care i think!!

I'm new here as a registered member and I would like to thank everyone for all these money saving tips I have picked up so far...

    However....:A

I find it hard to agree morally with sharing information regarding "success stories" with R&Rs. As an employee of Tesco I received a memo yesterday mentioning this website and the lengths some people will go to to take advantage of Tesco's "And if things don't add up.." promise.

The memo also contained a copy of several posts on this forum detailing items people'd managed to get R&Rs on. I then had to go round the store and check and pick the SELs from the "offending" products and tell everyone at CS to mark the receipts of customers to stop them returning to the store to get a refund more than once.

I'm just a bit worried that Tesco may decide to retract their policy if the loss incurred from it becomes overwhelming and people continue to actively search out mispriced products in order to get them for nothing. This would (as always) disadvantage genuine innocent customers of Tesco who were over charged due to an oversight on Tesco's part and are appreciative when they receive their R&R.

I must admit I'm pretty impressed with my store, as most OOD SELs are removed right away and most prices are up to date and match what the product scans at. However, (call me a spoil sport) but from now on I will actively check SELs to make sure they are up-to-date and correct.

Today I removed two SELs which expired 5/12/06 :rotfl:

    Thanks for your input.

Please excuse the lack of response to your post.

We recently had another tesco employee.....with a very similar name to yours.(TescoEmployee)

This guy turned into a troll, and really contributed nothing to the discusion.

I think the majority of posters would welcome more constructive input from "the other side"
    Couponing....."every little hurts"

Half of the people can be part right all of the time, Some of the people can be all right part of the time.
But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.

as someone said earlier remember the prunella scales advert where she actively encouraged customers to seek overcharges
oh and did this memo come by snail mail because this policy has been going on for a while now
or was the memo dated 1/02/05 and you forgot to read it

we fortunately are alot quicker than you and we have to drive to get to your place of business
However, (call me a spoil sport) but from now on I will actively check SELs to make sure they are up-to-date and correct.

But if they have lower sels that scan at a higher price, they can lie to the majority of customers that their prices are lower than Asda, Sainsburys, Morrissons ;)

Their sels may be lower, but their prices aren't

    Profits, lovely profits
