just a quick question guys and gals.......
when r&r'ing you obviously pay for your goods and then imediatly go to the CS desk and point out that uve been overcharged. its the next bit that im not sure about.......
should CS automatically offer an r&r (obviously they prob wouldnt if they thought they could get away with it).
if they dont auto offer it, what do you say? do you say that you know about r&r?0 -

Just say something like "oh thats odd as i was overcharged on xxxx recently and i was told it was store policy to refund me in full and they also let me keep the product" or just say you read the "if things dont add up" bit on the blue poster behind CS.TESCO EVERY LITTLE change to the t&cs HELPS0 -
Long story to follow, but hope it might save some of the less Tesco savvy among you a similar embarrassing fate to me!
Well, after weeks of reading this thread and searching every Tesco store I can for any potential R&Rs... finding precisely zilch... I thought I'd finally cracked it tonight! After doing the usual scout for potential R&R and once again finding nothing; I did my usual shopping which included buying 8 different ready meals stickered at around £2.74 each or 2 for £5.00. Prices on boxes matched the SELs so I didn't think they'd be an R&R. Having got through the tills I glanced at the receipt only to see that there was only one discount applied (instead of the four discounts I had expected for 4 pairs of meals) :j
My DH was with me, who (despite being a 6'5" rugby player) is as soft as butter and twice as shy! I had been telling him all about the thread here about R&Rs and he was cringing with embarrassment when I triumphantly raced to the CS desk thinking I had got an unplanned but much wanted R&R! First CS person was a young girl who immediately called her older colleague. 2nd CS lady was a little stern but quite pleasant. I put the 8 ready meals on the counter and explained only one discount had been applied. She told the young girl to call 'price integrity' as this was potentially a huge problem that needed to be sorted immediately and also to call a manager to come to CS.
Then she noticed that in some places my receipt stated 'fresh chicken' instead of chicken with barbeque sauce etc and she was insisting I must have bought fresh chicken. I asked her if she would like to search the trolley as we hadn't left the store! She then noticed that one pair of meals were not exactly the same (i.e. one chicken with barbeque sauce and one chicken with sweet chilli sauce) and said that the offer only applied to two identical items. I told her (politely) that it wasn't very clear on the packets (all marked 'buy two for £5) or the SELs all across the shelves with the different meals. However, at this point I still had 6 potential R&Rs and so allowed her to put those back in my trolley. She puzzled over the receipt for agesas she tried to match the meals with the items on the receipt and work out which one had actually triggered the discount and which hadn't. She went off (I assume to look at the shelves) and then came back. When no manager had arrived after several minutes and she was still puzzling over the receipt, she said
'Don't worry I'll just refund you the money'. I asked (innocently)
'What all the money I've paid for all of these?'
'Oh yes' she replied, 'that's what we do in these circumstances.' I was doing somersaults inside :j as she walked to the till... just as she started to press the buttons a young manager guy appears! She explained what had happened and he saw the problem and was much more worried about all the huge potential problems to come if the discounts weren't triggered at the tills all night. CS lady says,
'Yes I've got to do a very large refund to this lady' (around £20 she thought) and he nodded. He even told her she had to include the two different chicken meals as the offer should have been 'mix and match' and not just applied to two identical meals. CS lady and he argued about this for a while as CS lady was saying she was sure the meals had to be identical to get the two for £5 deal, him insisting it applied to any mix! Right hands not knowing what left hands are doing came to mind!
Then finally, after us standing there listening to this for what seemed ages he says
'We need to refund all these to the lady and then go and sort this out in the store'.
'Whoopee!' :j I thought and then he suddenly said,
‘Hang on a minute... what is the actual discount on each item? Most meals are £2.74 each so two for £5 should give 24p off each one.' At this point I thought he was going to offer us the difference and I said,
'Oh I thought your price promise (pointing at large blue sign) said you refund the whole price?'
‘Oh yes' he says 'of course you'll get that, (YIPPEE) :j but I'm just wondering what the total discount you should have got is.... (gets calculator out and eventually manages to determine that 8 x 24p is £1.92). ‘Oh look’ he says ‘that’s roughly the total discount you got’ (a couple of the meals were a few pence different). ‘Obviously the tills have taken off the correct discount after all; they just make it appear as if it is on one pair of items. You have been charged correctly after all!’
So, back to the drawing board for me… we slunk off into the night having wasted about 25 minutes and gained nothing but embarrassment!Mind you, it did make me realise how little the Tesco employees knew, as obviously neither CS nor manager had previously known that the discounts were added together by the till! :rotfl:

Just say I thought Tescos policy was a refund, point to the board, most give a refund without prompting.0 -

I usually point to that tiny paragraph at the bottom of the blue poster board and say "can you tell me why that doesn't apply in this case?".
Funnily enough, usually they can't."Life was easier when I didn't have a clue"0 -
Nenen, you'll soon get the hang of it, don't give up.0

In between you going to CS and them offering you anything, they will want to see the offending label.....MAKE SURE YOU GO WITH THEM
A lot of labels have been known to mysteriously disappear when CS look for them, themselves.
Depending on the value, a genuine CSa, will possibly say...."Yes Sir you have been overcharged, we now give you your money back and you keep the goods".
However....a lot of CSa's have been instructed to only offer the difference.
If you are just offered the difference
You politely say either something like....Well, my mam got a piece of cheese wrongly priced last week, and you gave her all her money back and she kept her cheese"
or
I'd rather have what it says on your policy board...(big blue board at back of CS (usually))
Never ask immediately for a refund
Always stay calm........you are doing nothing wrong
Never EVER mention RandR..
This is a term used by people usually associated with RandRing(us)....and is not a Tesco term.....once used it often gives the game away that you are "in the know"
Hope this helps and answers your question....which is quite a commomn questionCouponing....."every little hurts"
Half of the people can be part right all of the time, Some of the people can be all right part of the time.
But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.

Fairly new to this r&r thing, but I have been trying my hardest and today I got two books that have been mentioned time and time again on the misprice board. They were stickered wrong and I got a full refund no problems.
BUT...................................................................................................Now I feel really bad because I got these two books, not because I wanted them, but because I wanted a r&r.
I dont want them, and I dont even know anyone that would want them as a Xmas pressie, they will just sit on the side or no doubt go to the e of the bay!
Am I alone in my guilt.........should I feel bad..............or should I be glad..(maybe I should just be a poet!!!):rotfl:0 -

Just think of them as a training mission, but I would try to only r&r things you want or need as it becomes a problem when your face is at the desk to reguarly.0 -
