I will keep applying but there is no point in expecting or relying on that front0

Am looking forward to watching you slash that debt now. I bet you'll sleep well tonight
Well not too bad but I did fall asleep hatching plans to get rid of the rest of the CC debt and then the mortgage and then woke up doing the same:D
But yes KC I do feel invigorated and that I can do this whereas before I just feel we were sinking ever deeper into the mire
Off to Cardiff tomorrow to take OS to his consultant's appointment and then overnight with friends in Birmingham and then Leicestershire to pick my Mom up from my sisters so a busy couple of days.
Laptop going to friends tonight for round three of trying to fix the screen so will feel my right arm has been cut off  but I couldn't have taken it with me as the screen is not working still and having to use an external monitor. OH did say yesterday are you going to buy a new laptop now and the old me would have probably jumped at the chance as this one is 5 years oldbut the new me hadn't even considered it as even if the screen isn't fixable I can manage with the external monitor until it completely fails

Great news that you have/had these assets to fall back on.
Looking forward to hearing your tales of hammering down the rest of the debt.
Did you ever manage to sell the dolls house? If not it's coming up to Christmas buying time for some in about 6-8 weeks so maybe that would be the ideal time?0 -
Hi, I came across your diary the other day. I've been in your above situation. Taking time out to raise a family, technology advanced in the meantime, so I went back to college to update qualifications, just in time for a recession to kick in. 2 things helped. 1st I volunteered, which gave me up-to-date experience, a current reference and something recent on my cv. Then/now I temped. I was lucky, I've been in my temp job for over a year, doing more basic stuff than when I was a 17yo office junior, but I've been reliable, flexible, willing etc and I've just been asked to go on company's books till the end of their contract, with a view to being kept on if the win the next contract.
Sorry we cross posted and I missed this earlier I have tried work experience but haven't been able to get something long enough to make a difference to my CV going to see a good friend tomorrow and take his advice again on my next step I have tried to get a temp position but they are being snapped up by people with recent experience too but I am not giving up ..................... yetKeeping_Motivated wrote: »Great news that you have/had these assets to fall back on.

Dolls House is definitely on top of my list of potential sales I have found a suitable site and now need to do some more piccies as I have had a new camera which is better than the ones I took last time.
Also need to sell a bunk bed but can't find a picture of it tried googling so we will have to reassemble it - lesson learnt always take photo before taking stuff apart
Also got some stamps don't expect they will be worth much but I have seen somewhere to sell them as there is nowhere decent locally but that will have to wait until I am back in Cardiff late September as there is not enough time to do it this trip
We are going to clear the garage out and the date planned is a week on Monday so that the big kids will be free to help as some of it is their stuff - they just don't know it yet :rotfl:
Bad news today was that machine was not repairable so just had bill for just over 2K:eek: and they wanted it paying yesterday

Any comeback on the company ref the machine, always worth an investigation as they might pay out part of the cost.
Good luck on the garage, hope you find some forgotten treasure like Only Fools and Horses with the watch.
One small step for ME, one giant leap for my family!
2015 - my Amazon Gift Certificate mini challenge - saving to buy small household electrical items.
Total £9.120 -

Just need a bright day to take some photos but it won't be before Friday because I will be away and laptopless so I hope when I get back that it is fixed

How lovely of your DH to sell his car as I knew how much he loves that car..so great news on getting rid of loads of debt and good luck with the rest0

How lovely of your OH to sell the car, it must have meant so much to him seeing you upset. He seems like a really thoughtful person; that car meant a lot to him, but seeing you upset obviously meant more.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Just popping in - am on my holidays !!
Sounds like there is light at the end of the tunnel, what a lovely husband you have.
Things are turning a corner. Good luck persuading the kids to assist in the clear out!Trying to shift that debt!0 -
What a difference a few days make last weekend was complete pants and I just couldn't see a way out then OH made a huge difference and despite the setback in having a larger bill than anticipated we have paid it and are still in the black (just!) and have paid off some CC debt
I am glad to say that things are continuing to improve despite an horrendous journey home yesterday when they closed the road resulting in 90 minutes extra on my journey
OS had his hospital appointment and they think there might be signs of improvement so they are sending him for further tests to confirm and will see him again in 6 weeks and hopefully if they are right he won't need another op although recovery will still take many months
OD appears to have got a job at last haven't been able to speak to her direct to get further details but that is very good news both for her and for us
And best of all we think we are going to get a bit more pay at the end of October OK still nowhere near what we lost but any improvement is ab fab and the extra will enable us to pay some more off the CCs :T
I have also received a 12 month 0% offer on one of my exisiting cards so will be able to transfer the card that is coming out of 0% in September and if all goes to plan with our repayment schedule that debt should be cleared within the 12 months so I won't have to transfer it again. I can then concentrate on the two cards ending 0% in January but I do feel the end is in sight and that within the next 12 months we will be able to be CC debt free :T then it will be mortgage clearing time
We have had no news about whether we are able to let the villa out long term which would be really good news if we could but otherwise we shall just leave it empty and pay the basic maintenance costs
And I almost forgot
MY LAPTOP IS FIXED :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j
