Have you thought about the time lost that you would spend as a family together? Family time/independant time with friends is also important. If you're working evenings then your husband will also see you a couple of times during the week.
I work 6pm - 10pm for 4-5 nights in a hotel and these hours are tough to work at, not just because my job is physical but because I have in my head that I'm working later in the evening.0 -
What about working weekends?? and asking hubbie or if you have family close then calling on them........ I work Sat and Sun and my mum looks after my children as i am a single parent (sometimes at the swimming pool with me while i am working!)
Head on over to the old school board for help in the meantime about living on a strict budget (if not already) and i would suggest getting a few fruit/veg plant into the ground now if you can to potentially save a few pounds on food.....
I really admire those who want to work as it is tough when you have children and wish you all the best for the future xxxDFW since JAN 2009 - 2014 will be the year i finally clear debtsJust to see which month

Don't you think that most working mums would prefer to stay at home with their children too? Why are you different to all these other mums paying taxes? You don't want your child to go to a stranger during the day, that is YOUR choice, and no it is not a right. Childminders are not strangers, they just are to start with but can then become very close affectionate and caring members of your child's life. Many children go to childminders and are very happy children. It is YOU who has an issue with it and doesn't want to consider it. I am not judging that choice at all, everyone is entitled to their own belief and what is best for their child, but you can't expect others to financially support your choice, especially if the reason why you can't afford your lifestyle at the moment is due to previous debts.
the fact i choose to stay at home during "normal" working hours and choose to look for work between 5-12pm mon-sun should not be an issue to the JSA! unless im going to be entering a job that pays out 25+k childminding would deff be benificial but at the moement it does not make sense to! (previous debts are from before i met my partner and will be cleared by jan next year) i expect the financial help as i have worked since being 15 and payed my way, the moment i have asked for help i get kicked down constantly! i dont want and dont plan on being on benefits for as long as i can get away with it, i WANT a job and i NEED the financial help in the meantime whilst finding one!0 -

Tax credits pay up to 70% of your childcare costs. If your OH isn't earning a high wage then it's likely you will get this. If you go to work full time then you will definitely be better off working than being a SAHP. I know it would be lovely for everyone to stop at home and look after their kids but in reality if you could potentially be in real financial difficulties then needs must.
my partner is paid £5 over the high wage threshhold (before tax) and so we cant claim it!0 -
How many suitable jobs are you applying for each week?Gone ... or have I?0

Have you considered looking at childminding so you could work from home and be with your child all day? A friend of mine did this instead of return to her previous office work and she is very happy.0

I don't see you as blameworthy here - there should be more jobs around with flexible working hours, to enable mums like yourself to do paid work around your partners! That way you can juggle the caring for your children between you! You are available to work, and are seeking work therefore I think you should get your JSA!
It is fair to say that unless you are on a very good salary it is not worth your while working full time and paying for child care, even when some of it is paid via tax credits! I will only be able to return to work on a three day part time basis when my maternity leave period is over, as the money I earn full time will no where near cover the cost of childcare for two children, even with tax credits.
All very fine for those on a good salary to pass comment regarding benefits claimed, but what about those who are not!!the fact i choose to stay at home during "normal" working hours and choose to look for work between 5-12pm mon-sun should not be an issue to the JSA! unless im going to be entering a job that pays out 25+k childminding would deff be benificial but at the moement it does not make sense to!
