restricted availability
Okay. What I would do is go to the job centre and ask for a detailed explanation, you will be given an appointment to speak to a decision maker and they will explain their decision.
From there you may be able to amend you pattern of availibility that suits both you and JCP.
It's difficult to suggest anything else, really. But I imagine it'll be this:Really, you should declare availability for any and all hours that your child care allows
The DM will use this to make the decision, have a read maybe it'll help:

You say that you don't want a stranger bringing up your daughter but surely it's a better senario than not being able to keep a roof over her head or afford food and basic essentials? x0

That's not the primary reason the OP can't work during the day: childcare costs are such that you end up working for the sake of almost nothing. We looked at it, and unless my wife could work almost all of her hours at home, even with the CTC's childcare element she'd have been working for less than £1 an hour...Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.- Mark TwainArguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.0 -

a full days wage working 9-5 would nearly all go to a childminder, so whats he point in that? im capable of bringing my child up free, and then to comence work from 5pm in the evening when my partner finishes work, bringing a full wage into the house!0 -

really i could go to the jc and claim that yea i can work between the hours 8-8pm knowing that i cant, and then make every excuse under the sun on why i couldnt apply for the "perfect" job!
this is what im getting at they have not taken my situation in consideration at all, i am willing to take this as far as possible to point out that not everyone cant and shouldnt be classed under the working hours of 8-8pm0 -
Do you not claim tax credits and child benefit as tax credits will pay 70% of your child care costs.0

Tax credits pay up to 70% of your childcare costs. If your OH isn't earning a high wage then it's likely you will get this. If you go to work full time then you will definitely be better off working than being a SAHP. I know it would be lovely for everyone to stop at home and look after their kids but in reality if you could potentially be in real financial difficulties then needs must.0

Don't you think that most working mums would prefer to stay at home with their children too? Why are you different to all these other mums paying taxes? You don't want your child to go to a stranger during the day, that is YOUR choice, and no it is not a right. Childminders are not strangers, they just are to start with but can then become very close affectionate and caring members of your child's life. Many children go to childminders and are very happy children. It is YOU who has an issue with it and doesn't want to consider it. I am not judging that choice at all, everyone is entitled to their own belief and what is best for their child, but you can't expect others to financially support your choice, especially if the reason why you can't afford your lifestyle at the moment is due to previous debts.0

ITS NOT FINANCIALLY WORTHWHILE FOR THOSE ON LOW INCOMES TO USE A CHILDMINDER; WHAT IS IT YOU'RE NOT GETTING?!
Unless the OP has qualifications/experience to allow them to step right into a 20k (or thereabouts) job then using ANY form of childcare just costs almost as much (sometimes even more) than you earn. Up until your child is 1-2 years old (i.e. doesn't need almost constant 1 on 1 care and can play on their own OK) even the 70% the CTC will pay doesn't really make up enough to justify it. The only reason to do it that way is if you WANT to go back to work for the sake of working, not because you want to bring extra income into the household.Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.- Mark TwainArguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.0 -
