Just spoke to Eon - they said could switch now without penalty as in last 30 days of fix period. Final bill will not have the 18.7% and other discounts (6% online and 2% dual fuel?) but luckily I have a bill date of 21 June.

Is that what Eon told you? If you see out the full term of FOL 8 (ie your switch hasn't been finalised by then), you will be entitled to all discounts applicable to the FOL 8 tarrif. In addition you will not be charged an exit fee.

The scenario you (or Eon) have raised here, would only apply if your switch is activated/finalised BEFORE 1 July (takes 4 to 6 weeks from your initial application). The Eon rep has clarified this quite a few times.

The suspicious ones amongst us might be tempted to think that the site's down because all the prices/tariffs are being 'adjusted'. ;)

Down for me too. Could be all the FOL8 customers asking for a bill!

I've had enough of all this. I've moved from FOL8 due to end July) to Fixed Price 5 this evening. Its a gamble whatever we do. Here's hoping Eon dont penalise me by witholding end of contract discounts owed on FOL8 .

That is what they told me on the phone - even though the fol8 ends on 1st July any 'final' bill would not receive any discounts - I asked about this specifically. They also specifically stated that even if I completed a switch during the final 30 days of the fol8 lock in period I would not be charged the £30 fee.

What I don't know is whether I switch to the eon age concern cap now whether that will trigger a non-discount final bill for fol8?

EDF fix for me. Went via moneysupermarket for £30 cashback although no mention of the £30 once I had completed the switch.:(

I read my meter and requested a bill so should still get the discounts applied.

My annual usage is 29k kWh gas and 6.1k kWh elec.

According to moneysupermarket, the automatic switch from EON FO8 to EON Energyonline will cost me £366 more at current rates. Switching to Eon save V7 will be slightly cheaper at £302 but both of these tarifs are likely to be increased by a substantial amount in the coming round of increases.

Fixing with EON Fixed price 5 will cost £553 more.

Switching to EDF saver V2 will cost £365 more but is a fixed price tarif so seems to me that unless EON only increase prices slightly (unlikely) it is the best bet. The only thing that confuse me is the EDF discount of 6% off the total annual bill. When is this paid and does it mean that if you leave after the 15 months it is fixed for the part year doesn't qualify for the discount?

Need to dig deeper on the annual discount but agree wiyh you that EDF Fix v2 is the best looking one.

If you get the £30 switch fee back it actually works out 2% more than the online 7 variable tariff.

I've already switched out of FOL8 2 or 3 weeks back, but if I were switching now I'd be seriously considering this one from EDF for the long fix through until the end of winter 2014:

    Fixed Price 2014 (http://www2.savetodaysavetomorrow.com/Fixed_Price_2014.html)

Fix your energy prices until 31 March 2014
