e.on Fixonline 8 - question for e.on Company Representative on alternatives?

From a uSwitch email today warning of plans shortly to be withdrawn - don't leave it too late:
Thousands of energy customers need to compare energy prices in June or they could see an increase of up to £298 in their energy bills as cheap energy deals end.
Ending this month:
E.ON’s ‘Track and Save Version 4’ – ends 7th June
npower’s ‘Sign Online V18’ – ends 30th June
EDF Energy’s ‘Online S@ver 6’ –ends 30th June
EDF Energy’s ‘Annual Fix V3’ – ends 30th June
Customers who have just come off, or are about to come off a fixed or discounted plan, need to act now as suppliers are pulling their most competitive tariffs. Over the last 6 weeks, the price of a cheap energy deal has crept upwards by £60. However, British Gas’s ‘WebSaver 12’ is still priced at a market beating £955 a year.
I appreciate your enthusiasm in bringing this to light.
A couple of points.
The comparison sites have a vested interest in getting people to switch.
The price is going up anyway. You can put if for a period but the next time you renew you will just jump higher to get back on the escalator.
It is the issue of continual relentless increases well above inflation in this country that is not being looked at that needs mitigating and the powers that be appear to be doing diddly wotsit about it."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Couldn't agree more with you about the increases - we're being stitched up by the energy companies.
And it's true to say that at the next renewal you'll find a big increase - that's happening right now for FOL8 customers, of course.
But that's not a reason not to switch. If you switch to a good fixed/capped rate product you can at least protect yourself from increases for a couple of years or so, and it's unlikely that prices are going to go down. If they do, it's usually possible to get out again for a relatively small (depending on your energy consumption) penalty fee.0 -
I don't know whether to Fix with EDF Fixed Saver v2 or stick with E.ON Saveonline 7.
E.ON will be £400 more or EDF will be £600 more over the year. Either way it is alot of money!
Confused :wall:0 -

You need to take into account the likely price rise coming in the next few weeks. SOL7 will increase at that point, but fixed/capped rates won't.0 -
As Doc N says, SOL7 prices will increase at some point.
I was recently looking at E.On's SOL6, which gave me a 12% increase based on my annual usage versus EDF Fixed Saver v2, which gave me a 31% increase, but is at a fixed price until Sept 2012. Went for EDF in the end. May pay a bit more now, but will hopefully come out ahead in the long run. Plus I know what I will be paying a year from now.
Of course, if utility prices fall I'll lose out, but I'm prepared to take that gamble.:)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. I am still waiting for my call back from Eon... may give them a nudge back later, can't see why they rang me back, after the advisor said hang on until 1st July...

Once the switch process has started, you'll get a call from e.on asking if you really want to move.
They can only offer what's available on their website, and in my case the person who called sounded apologetic but said she was sorry but she didn't have a deal to offer that could compete with the Scottish Power one that I'm moving to.
Nothing else coming from them, and they just seem resigned to losing their customers.0 -

Exactly the same happened to me, although I was moving to EDF.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards.
