    Congratulations!!!
What type of account is it? If its a step account, it will be Solo. If it is a Current Plus it could be either Solo or Maestro.
    Switch doesn't exist anymore.
Its Maestro or Solo there are both debit cards, but Maestro comes with a cheque guarantee and it called a Servicecard 100. HTH.
  • Has anyone got any experience of barclays cash card account and a credit check is it needed??

Only a ID/address check is needed. Therefore, no credit check is done, as it's not a current account.

    Why do you think that?

If it's a Maestro card, you will get either Servicecard 100 or 250.

You can be issue 2 different cards on a Current Plus
    Solo
Maestro - the Maestro card will come with a cheque guarantee.

You will be able to upgrade from a Solo to a Maestro probably 3-6 months.
  • Just an update.

Went into Yorkshire Bank today, and opened a Ready Cash account, really easy, made the appointment, at which point I stated that I wanted that particular account due to defaults.

The manager, who made the application online went through the forms on screen with me, and did a Bankrupcy check (the Ready Cash account isn't scored, only bankrupcy checked)

Got given my account number and sort code there and then, and told my Maestro card will be here in 5 days.

Really happy, especially considering that RBS 'still' haven't got back to me !

Applied for that account on the 7th of January, and took the copies of i.d, and agreement into the branch, but have heard nothing yet.

I was thinking, how about a new thread showing the different cards each account has (obviously masking account details), this may be helpful to new members who want to see the different card options.

I will do this with mine once it's received.

Oh, btw, was talking to the Manager about other basic bank accounts, and asked why some people get turned down, she said bankrupcy is a big no no, but also history of fraud, i.e "unpaid defaults !"

Thought that may be of some interest ;)
  • Thanks thats really helpful.

    Im trying them now.
  • Does anyone know if lloyds TSB upgrade their cash accounts because I have been told that these accounts are very hard to upgrade.

I currently have a lloyds tsb cash account because I have a default on my credit file which is due to fall off very soon and have been given a risk band of 9 even through I pay money into my account regularly and no charges.

I have a full bank account with another bank and good behavioral score but I prefer lloyds Tsb because they have UK call centres.

    No problem.

If it's any more help, they only need a Driving License/Passport, and wage slip for i.d purposes as well.

    ;)
