I currently have a lloyds tsb cash account because I have a default on my credit file which is due to fall off very soon and have been given a risk band of 9 even through I pay money into my account regularly and no charges.
I have a full bank account with another bank and good behavioral score but I prefer lloyds Tsb because they have UK call centres.
Just wait until that nasty little default drops off then, way-hey - you're in the zone.0 -

Spoke to a lovely English rose today who full understood my requirement for a UK call centre and gave me a nice UK geographical number to speak to an English as their first language person.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -

They do a bankrupcy check, and history of fraud check.
See my post above, as I found some enligtening information on what a history of fraud check entails, unpaid historic defaults can be classed as a history of fraud !
See my post about the Yorkshire Bank Basic account, they only do a bankrupcy check :money:0 -

I've never heard about that!!! As far as most people are aware including myself it's a CIFAS marker they check for in terms of fraud not Uppaid Defaults or CCJs. Interesting.0 -

That's what I thought Sutton, in fact, the Manager was quite pleasant, and discussed things quite openly, she even let me see the information on screen as it was displayed about me.
It makes for common sense though when you think about it.0 -
I bet it was chilling reading!! What kind of things did it say if you don't mind me asking.
When i opened my account with them i asked for a Readycash but they gave me a Current Plus account, it got reffered to Head Office but they gave me it. The lady told me that i don't really have anything on my credit file so they must be able to see it in branch.0 -
There are two systems, one system has information as follows, iirc -
Name
DOB
Previous addresses (last 3 years)
Income
Salary info
NI Number (took from payslip)
This is laid out with in a spreadsheet format, with 'tabs' at the top of the screen, interestingly, it got stuck with the automatic postcode finder on one of my addresses, and she had to override this with manual entry.
Then onto the credit check, this was done on a different application, the screen was very basic, and I can liken it to a teletext sort of screen with a black background, and quite large font.
She put my Name, DOB, previous addresses in, and contact numbers, it then brought up a screen with my JD Williams account info on there (I have four accounts with them), and other accounts.
She clicked on one of the options (I presume the other options were for normal credit checks), and then it came up as no info recorded (she then commented that this was fine, so that must have been the bankrupcy clear)
She then printed off this page, and I then signed the agreement.
I checked on MyEquifax, and Credit Expert, no search showing on either, so it must either be an unrecorded enquiry, or it may be on Call Credit.

Basic accounts dont have a credit check that leaves the electronic footprint. Abbey does a credit reference but this is checking your id against voters roll and checking for fraud.0

I thought I'd just post to say I opened a Yorkshire Bank Readycash account today without any problems at all. It was done by appointment and the guy (who couldn't have been nicer) must have told me at least 4/5 times that no credit check was being done or would be done.
It was all very straight forward. I used my driving licence (pink paper version) and my passport as evidence of ID. I left the appointment with my account number and sort code. My Maestro card and PIN will be with me in about 5 working days at which point I can register for telephone and internet banking.
Thanks you everyone on here for all the helpful advice, as I was just going to try and stick it out with my current bank.Numpties...I'm surrounded by them...save me...:whistle:0
