It was all very straight forward. I used my driving licence (pink paper version) and my passport as evidence of ID. I left the appointment with my account number and sort code. My Maestro card and PIN will be with me in about 5 working days at which point I can register for telephone and internet banking.
Thanks you everyone on here for all the helpful advice, as I was just going to try and stick it out with my current bank.
They will do a bankrupcy check, and also the information from your credit file will be displayed on their screen (see my above post), but the credit check information won't go against you getting the account.0 -

I'm sure you are right. He may have done other checks before my appointment, but in front of me he only did the electoral role check.Numpties...I'm surrounded by them...save me...:whistle:0 -

Regardless, Yorkshire Bank seem to be a lot more pliable than the other banks, which is good news.
Also, you get a Maestro card, which is far handier than an Electron, or Solo :cool:0 -

I currently have a lloyds tsb cash account because I have a default on my credit file which is due to fall off very soon and have been given a risk band of 9 even through I pay money into my account regularly and no charges.
I have a full bank account with another bank and good behavioral score but I prefer lloyds Tsb because they have UK call centres.
I opened my LTSB Cash Account in August 2006. Around 14 months later I enquired about an upgrade, despite having several defaults on my credit file. I had also inccurred 3 charges for unpaid direct debits during February 2007.My account was upgraded to a classic current account with cheque book and visa debit card. (I only had a cashcard at the time).0 -

Congratulations!! on wards and upwards. If you keep a good record with them perhaps they may give you a credit card in the future.0 -
I am just over a week from paying my final payment of a Protected Trust Deed.
I have a Easycash bank account with Halifax, however one of my creditors is Lloyds TSB. With the recent merger of these banks I was wondering what implications this will have on me?
I was thinking of changing banks just to be on the safe side, I can't use any from the RBS group as they are creditors also.
Any suggestions would be welcome
Thanks

Good choice. Yorkshire are by far the best bank in my experience. Be carefull though with the Maestro Card. It's the real deal and not limited like the others....ie you can go overdrawn on it. The other banks limit their basic bank account debit cards in some way - Yorkshire don't.0 -

You could try the Barclays Bank Cash Card Account which comes with a Visa Debit card or Yorkshire Bank's Readycash which comes with a Maestro card0 -
Hi
sorry if this has been asked previously but I wanted to open a Citibank account. I went onto the website but the only ones there are a normal one (you have to have an income of at least £20,000 a yr) or a gold one (£50,000 a yr). I can't see the sterling one on the website, am I looking in the wrong place?
Can anyone help?
I was thinking of applying for the basic account with HSBC or with Clydesdale but not sure yet.
thanks xx0
