Give RBS a ring, that would be your best bet, or ring your local branch.0

I went into the local branch today, with proofs, and the lady said she would send the documents back to the central department.
Surely if the credit check has already been done, and I received the agreement to sign it sounds like the account has been succesful?
I am wondering what card I will receive though, as on the agreement it says that if we can't offer you a Highline Card, we may offer a Key Card, or Cash Card0 -
Well you'll be surpised, RBS Group (Natwest) will credit check firstly and when you send the Documents back they credit check you again. It's happened to mean more than once. If you have your application number you can ring the processing dept and ask them if it will get declined or not. HTH0

Thanks for your help Sutton.
Will just cross my fingers and wait I suppose.
Won't be happy if they do multiple credit checks, as that'll make the situation worse0 -
I recently applied for a Halifax basic account and a CitiBank basic account....both were declined.
I got as far as sending my proof of address to Citi Bank, which they returned but then sent me a letter a couple of days later saying that I hadn't reached their criteria.
Halifax sent me a decline straight away.
I'm in need of a bank account but it seems that even the basic accounts are hard to be accepted for.
I do have a bad credit history and I'm not currently working but I'll be in employment soon and will need a bank account for my wages to go into as well as making it easier to pay bills etc.
I've no idea what step to take next or who to apply to as any more credit searches on me will probably make it even worse.
Are there any banks that don't credit score? Or are easier than others for getting a basic account?
Thanks in advance0 -
I don't think that should be a problem, they don't credit check for the cash card account they just verify your address. I owed barclaycard money when i went bunkrupt, they still accepted my application. Give it a try or if you prefer Natwest then go with that.
Are you 100% sure they don't credit check for the Basic Account? The only reason I ask is I was turned down a couple of months ago.

You might have to have a run out to Portsmouth or Southampton to open it but consider the Yorkshire building society cash transactor account.
You can have standing orders, direct debits, online banking (if you open an internet saver as well). You get an ATM card.
I know they don't credit score as when I opened mine I specifically asked as I knew it would fail. They just do a check to see you are on the electoral roll. You of course need the usual ID, bills etc.0 -

Thank you heppy23.
I'll go into town tomorrow and try it out0 -
O.k, further to my post above, where RBS did a check with Equifax, I had another alert from Equifax, and they have done another search as below -
13/01/2009Identity Check to comply with Anti Money Laundering RegulationsI-cd Publishing-rbs Risk Guardia
So it seems like they have done another search.
Haven't received anything through yet, but I also checked Credit Expert (Experian), no searches done there0 -

Iam eternally grateful to you ..........and also to the very nice lady in my local Natwest Branch. She was human, had a sense of humour and opened our account up fo us on the spot!! She even knew wht our circumstances were.
Now we at least have an account where we can process our salaries, DD's etc.....a lifesaver!
Would be handy if we could get a " switch or debit" card for paying things online etc, but hey one step at a time!0
