  • i am new to this forum, and would like to know ?
i have a current account that i have not used in a while and thinking of having my wages paid into, but i also have a credit card by this building society, i am paying so much a month to a debt company for the credit card.
if i start having my wages paid into this account, can the credit card company take all my wages to pay this debt even though im paying this other company.

Probably, yes.... I think it is called the 'right to set off', and I am sure others will be along shortly to clarify, as I am new here myself :)

If it was me, I would open a completely seperate account for my wages just as a double check that this couldn't happen.

    What BS is it?

if you owe money on a credit card and you hold a current account with the same instiution they can take money from this account if you are delinquent and in arrears for the card.

Haven't read the first post yet, but been hanging about reading bits and bobs of this forum for a while now :)

Ok, so i just need help. I dont have any bad credit, or in debt with anyone. And it's just some problem with my bank, and i have a account with them but wanted to change it, but since some new rules came into affect they have to ask me questions, thing is i cannot answer them because of some medical reason, and i guess they thought i was dumb, or stupid

So is there a account i can open online and have a debit card, i can pop down with family members to add money into the account its just the whole speaking thing i have a problem with :o

    Thanks :A
