I just want to check this is isn't just me before I make a complaint...
If you go onto Achica website -> My Account -> subscription status
Are you actually able to unsubscribe from the Newsletter?! It lets me put the 'dot in the box' but cannot click on the 'apply' button.
After reading this thread and the terrible experience my mum had before Christmas I know that I will never order from Achica in future and don't want to receive their newsletter.0 -
In my opinion, it should be illegal for any company to trade in the UK without publishing a phone number and street address through which it can be contacted.
'Achica Customer Service' - what do you have to say about that ?
The Achica phone number is [text removed by MSE Forum Team]
Their company registered address is 20 Hanover Square, London, W1S 1JY
I called them to complain about spam they'd sent me.
I spoke to the Finance Director there, he was very helpful. I mentioned to him that they didn't have their phone number on their web site - he said that he knew that, but that to put it up, they'd have to have enough staff to deal with phone calls, and currently they do not. He said that they're hoping to do something about that.
I explained to him that I, and I'm sure other people, would be reluctant to make any purchases from a company that didn't give a contact phone number.
I'm giving them five stars for the helpful attitude of their finance director with respect to my complaint about them sending me spam. I can't rate them for anything else, as I've never had any dealings with them, although being sent spam by a company is, in my view, a good reason for not having any dealings with them.0 -
Hi
Achica has asked us to clarify that the number posted is for its finance team which it says can't help with these questions, but has asked you get in touch via the Achica website http://www.achica.com/Could you do with a Money Makeover?

Achica have told me that they acquired the list of email addresses that they spammed, from moneysavingexpert. Is this true? I find that hard to believe, since MSE's policy on giving out email addresses is very clearly stated on this web site.
"We collect your e-mail address if you register as a participant in our forums. We only use this address to send you your password to enable you to log into our forums or to send you e-mail notices if you have elected to receive them on this page."
Which means that MSE is not giving out our email addresses, which means that Achica's statement to me was not correct?
Could MSE please let me know about this? Thanks.0 -
IS it legal for Achica.com to take £613.95 of my money from my credit card and not give an acknowledgement, a email receipt, or any kind of information?
I bought a chest of drawers via the ACHICA Website on Friday morning only to find my card was debitted I still have no confirmation OF ANY KIND almost 36 hours later.
Surely if the transaction was unsuccessful they should have contacted me to let me know?
The transaction doesnt show up on their order page, and yet my credit card issuer has confirmed ACHICA has taken the money.
I cant think of any business that would get away with this can you. I am not sure what my rights are, but all I know is that I am £613 worse off and nothing to show for it. ACHICA seem to be heavy on sales and low on customers redress. In this case it feels more like theft. I'm at my wits end what should I /can I do because they are not responding to emails?0 -
They do seem to be better at responding to complaints at Facebook rather than email. Also, if you don't receive goods, you can initiate a chargeback through your credit card. Though i do suggest keeping an audit trail of any email messages sent and/or received.0

I've ordered three items from this company and had very different experiences
A down pillow took weeks to arrive and was of dreadful quality, so thin that I might as well have rested my head on the plastic bag. However the refund was made without question when I returned it.
Fishbone pliers arrived very quickly, were of excellent quality and at a very good price.
A Sodastream did arrive eventually, with a glass bottle "to follow". This never arrived, and only when I chased their customer service did they tell me that they would not be able to provide it. This is really not good enough - it is a necessary part of the sodastream and they had already had my money for weeks. If they have contracted to supply an item and taken the cash they should follow through with the goods, even if they have to buy them from a different source.
Like some of the contributors above, I don't mind a lengthy delivery time so long as I know to expect a delay. But I double that I will bother to use them again and I would not recommend them to friends. Although some of their prices are good, most are not much better than Amazon who ship in days rather than weeks, often free.0 -
I have had a similar experience with Achica. They took money for goods in March that should have arrived in April. When the goods did not come I had to contact them to tell them. They said it would be a further 10 days, the goods did still not arrive and when I then said I would cancel the order they have not agreed to refund my money until they contact the supplier. To add insult to injury the customer 'care' person I spoke to was officious and, I consider, rude. This is not a good company to deal with. Jo0

Use them regularly- expect long delays because that's how they work.
Prices are great. Only ever had to return one item and that wasn't a problem.
I tend to buy for birthday presents for other folk and usually plan every few months anyway. So I seem to be in the rare category of a happy customer!"To exercise power costs effort and demands courage." Oscar Wilde

Secondly it is also illegal to take payment before dispatching the goods; this can be confirmed by more "seasoned" e-commerce retailers like marks & spencer and john lewis.
On another note and from my experience most of the products on these membership based sites aren't actually any cheaper, as experienced most recently when I bought a relyon bed and leaner mirror from two other independent non membership internet sites at less money, oh and the goods were in stock and got delivered within a week.
Don't believe the hype, membership doesn't always translate into value, relating to both price & availability.
Achica is a great business model, take orders, don't guarantee a delivery date, bank the money! Expect to see many more membership based sellers of luxury products on a screen near you very soon; membership sites will soon start popping up everywhere and be as plentiful as comparison sites.
Achica and other membership sites will capture your details through membership and then send you email daily with alleged offers and deals, my advice is to always compare not only price but delivery.
And finally never buy from a site that hasn't a phone number or real address as it's probably a home seller that has no stock and no customer service whatsoever.
Good luck.0
