Well done GP

Hi GP, you're doing fantastically well. I can tell you from personal experience that the first couple of weeks on a diet you lose a lot of weight very quickly. After that, it settles down to 1-2lbs per week.
In the early days you lose quite a bit of retained water (so you start to feel at lot less bloated, and can also look quite a bit slimmer fairly rapidly - great for motivation). Your metabolism is still high for a couple of days after you start the diet too, as your body is used to a much higher calorie intake. So this also helps you get off to a good start.
By exercising, and ensuring you are not under-eating (you can still eat plenty of food whilst dieting as long as you are choosing the right foods), you will keep your metabolism high, and this will keep the weight coming off.

There's a girl at work who tells me that chilli is good for keeping your metabolism high. I'm not sure whether this is myth or whether it's real. Handy if it's true, as I do like a bit of chilli in my food.0

Hi G.P. Just wanted to wish you well on this journey!
Chillies are good for releasing endorphins (I believe) which pep you up.
Also - could it be an idea to place the money you have saved by not going for a dirty Big Mac or chinese takeaway into a pot? You could keep us updated with your total and maybe at the end of this treat yourself to something fantastic!

Honestly, not a problem. Just mail me with your weight and all subsequent updates. I'll add you to the graph and rename the thread (better to have it all on one thread than have multiple weight loss threads clogging up the boards).
We'll try and get some more on board too, for moral support (which I'll need over christmas!)0 -
