And I have just turned down a chinese takeaway and gone for a grilled chicken breast with stir fried peppers instead. So there.

You're a brave man Grey Pilgrim - trying to lose weight at this time of year - please excuse me if I don't offer to join you, but I do wish you well.
As far as the beer goes, I don't see any harm in having one beer a day and certainly medical evidence points to the odd glass of red wine as being good for the heart - just what you need if you are over-weight - you just can't win.
My advice would be to change your diet gradually, and always leave space for the odd treat.
Hope it works for you mate.

It's got a rooftop swimming pool and I desperately want to be able to lose enough weight to be able to use it without being scared that the locals mistake me for marine wildlife and start throwing harpoons at me.

Well the weekend was good, done lots of stepping, rowing and uphill walking at the gym, knocked the crap food on the head, had lots of fruit. So off to a good start I think.

The scales said 20 stone 10 pounds this morning which is a 3 pound loss but I'm not going to get too excited about it, as I know weight is generally a rollercoaster. I'm only going to update my signature every friday so that I get the average loss (hopefully loss anyway).

Also going to start going for a walk in my lunchhour rather than sitting eating. I'll take something to eat on the go and stretch my legs.

I drank those four cans by the way - thought it was better to start off with an empty fridge

Good for you, going for a daily walk, you'll spend less as well.

Great idea about emptying the fridge, leaves more room for the healthy stuff now.

Back now after lunchtime walk. Had some very quick noodles and have a stack of fruit on my desk. Am slightly sweaty now. it was a brisk 40 minute stroll.
