    Hi ,
I have also just had aletter from Flogas saying they're putting up the price of my lpg by 6p per litre because of a 30% increase in the price of gas over the last four weeks.
Does anyone know if there is somewhere I can look up lpg gas prices? I have tried but can only get trends for lpg car fuel.
    Cheers
    Ian

Please see the BULK LPG thread and my post http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=36962198&postcount=218

    I hope it helps!

It would be good if we could keep Bulk LPG posts separate from bottle gas posts: the threads get mixed. I see mullercow has now moved her post - which started this conversation - there. Note: Bulk LPG users cannot get their tanks filled by anyone (unlike buying bottled gas), unless they own their tank which is very rare because it is a hassle! The tanks are normally owned, and maintained, by the supplier.
  • Hi Scribbler

I negotiated the price i pay down to 38.5p per litre in March. I've signed up for two years, and so they're already trying to get the price back up.
I think they're using the gas prices as an excuse, but I can't find any lpg gas price tends to prove it.
I'd be interested to know if everyone got a similar letter, because i also wonder if they batch thier customer price rises so that there aren't too many complaints.
The government have already tried to peg back their restrictive practices once.
  • Hi Ian H61,

To answer you question LPG has increased on the world markets by 2 pence per ltr in the last few weeks

I am amazed at some of the prices people are paying for LPG. I do have knowledge of the industry and cannot understand why people stay with the bigger companies, 63-64p per ltr is just silly. Also why people re-sign with a company that has already ripped them off. I have had a phone round today to check prices in the Midlands, anything over 45 pence per ltr is too much. Extra gas seemed the cheapest but Lister Gases were prepared to fix price at 45pence for 1 year !!

    Try
Carver Gases : small indepentant comapny
    Lister Gases : independant
    Extra fuel : Independant

One last thing I note someone saying they were with one company who used flogas to make their deliveries as they had no vehicles in that area themsleves. What do you think will happen when its
-10deg and flogas are struggling to supply their own customers!!!
  • As per A couple of previous posters please check out previous notes from littlevermin with links (I can't post as I'm a new user)STAY CLEAR OF FLOGAS THEY WILL FLEECE YOUR WALLET!!!
  • Hi all

We had a price of 32ppl fixed for 6 months at both houses (only difference between them is one uses a bit less gas than the other) price is now up to 41.5ppl and 44.5ppl. Tied into 2 year contracts when changed from BP last year.
Lesson learned, not impressed with Flogas !

Currently with Flogas and in the process of looking for a move after their prices jumped.

    38p - March 10
    41p - June 10
    44.5 - August 10
    48p - September 10

Annoyingly twice I have had a delivery invoice (no note through the door) the same day as a price rise notification comes through. Also 2 of the above rises in June and August I received no letter at all.

JGas looks the best bet in Central Scotland at 38p for 6months, the 38p would go down by 1.5-2p if I could get 2 or 3 neighbours involved as well which shouldnt be too hard.

Shell quoted 35p with max 3p rises in 2nd, 3rd and 4th lots of 6 months. Apparently their Bulk Gas supply is up for sale so no doubt if they did sell the prices would definately shoot up.
  • after 5 years with flogas just signed at Lister Gases at 38p per Ltr,but they only cover the midland counties so not sure if this helps you. One nice thing NO CALL CENTRE. you phone the number and they answer and you speak with humans!!! This saved me 20p per ltr x 3,000 ltrs year £600
  • Hello all,

My partner and I have recently moved into a rented property that runs off LPG.

We had to install a new 47KG flogas cylinder just over a week ago at a cost of just under £100. We use it to heat the house and our hot water.

But after only 10 days it's run out. We haven't had the heating/water on all day, only a couple of hours in the morning and a couple of hours in the evening.

Is this normal? Are we just going to have to face facts that this is an expensive way to heat our house?

I know our boiler does have a "pre-heat" function. Does leaving this on make the gas run out quicker?

I coule really do with some advice!

    PLEASE HELP!

    Thanks in advance.

My gas fitter husband tells me that you have been misled with your purchase. This is not a good way to heat a house/obtain hot water. For a mobile home or caravan you would have at least two of these, possibly four, operating on a change over valve. Also using the pre-heat should not use more gas.
  • Hi thanks for the reply. Can you tell me how we've been misled? We paid around £70 for the gas and £30 for the cylinder
