had to laugh at that one re the handbag, my housemate friend was telling me about her stroking a Balenciaga jacket in Harvey Nics in Leeds last week and she let out an audible gasp, and the sales assistant could only offer a chuckle and a "yes I did that when I first saw it!"

Ahhhhh to beautiful things but bahhhhhh to them being so expensive! :rotfl:
thanks hypno, I feel like I must surely be getting there, but when I actually try and put my finger on what's changed, I can't so then go back to thinking nothing has.
I'm feeling a bit brighter today, the lurgy has receded a little thanks to lots of paracetamol and some sleep.
I managed some good practice last night, just briefly, before I went out to Brownies.
Had a couple of nice natters with the lovely mechanic from across the road
and I'm hoping an excuse to catch him on his own and ask him out for a drink will crop up (preferably not involving a poorly car again!!) - could be awful if he says no but will never know if I don't ask. I've not heard anything from the guy from the party but it's no great loss for either of us I feel
I've been daydreaming about running away to the wilds of Scotland again - just seen a stunning plot of land on the Isle of Harris *dreams* so next year I will plan in a little (!) trip a long way north and have a nose around. It might just be a dolly daydream and a reaction to a frantic life here, but it could be deeper than that so only one way to find out
I didn't do anything CV wise last night but really must jump to this over the weekend. Sunday is a teaching day so tomorrow it will have to be.
I was going to speak to my boss today about salary and career development options where I am, but emotions are too strong about it all at the moment so hopefully after a bit of thought over the weekend, I can compose myself enough to get to it next week.0 -
We all need to hold onto our dolly daydreams

You ARE doing great my love, you're just too close to see it X'The road to a friends house is never long'0

thanks folks

I'm feeling distinctly under the weather today so will take it easy
but I still have a few bits I want to get sorted - just filing some of the paperwork mountain. Plus I have a leaf mountain to tackle as well - this should be quite gentle though and will be good to get out in the fresh air
Off out tonight for my friend's celebration - I need to look suitably fabulous which will take a bit of doing :rotfl: but I'm looking forward to it.
I really need a pair of fantastic black heels though - my wardrobe is pretty good now on the clothing front and what to wear crises are things of the past. But the shoe situation definitely needs help
I found the lovely mechanic on FB last night so added him and now wondering what on earth he is going to think :rotfl: as it's not like we know loads of the same people or anything. hopefully it will have a good outcome!
So a gentle list for today:
put washing away
continue wardrobe clearance
fish leaves out of the pond
rake up leaves from under tree so more don't end up in the pond
possibly some gentle yoga as I REALLY need a stretch
harp practice
file credit card statements
sort out driving licence renewal
lots of reading and lolling on the sofa
get dolled up for tonight
enjoy celebrating with my wonderful talented friend
gaze at lovely Highlands/Islands pictures
looks like a lot now I've written it down!
hope everyone has a fab day and good luck to Souk for the move

Hi Lionheartedgirl
I'm still around, just more of a lurker than a poster.
Hope you had a lovely evening xxx0 -
hi choogirl, I still lurk on your diary too

evening all
gahhhhh I am feeling rough again! lurgy has well and truly taken hold and I have an important meeting at work tomorrow
hoping to drag myself in but will be lucky to make it I think.
Been to counselling tonight - a bit earlier than normal thank goodness as my Monday harp pupil couldn't make her lesson. So I was in by 8.15
Had a very traumatic session as I have just about reached the end of my tether today - not helped by being full of lurgy. Something drastic has to happen quite soon and I would prefer to be the one calling the shots. I'm definitely job hunting and will be having a word with my boss on Friday about salary and work aspirations etc. At the moment I am looking at how I could manage short term if I put my notice in and took some time off while looking for another job. I don't think it's a realistic option but it's giving me a bit of peace weighing up the options and thinking of a life beyond work while I get my head together.
I've also had a think about my car situation - there is a cute little car at the garage across the road at the moment which I could swap mine for AND hopefully get a bit back, which would save me the big bills coming if I keep it. It's not a harp friendly car at all, but it would be loads of fun through the winter and I could chop it in for something else in the spring once harp work starts again. By then I should be a bit more sure of what my requirements are - if I find a job with a company car, I could sell it and clear some debt. If I end up getting the train into London I would just need a cheaper estate car as a runaround for the harp (and would be on better money so could probably stretch to something a bit nicer!). Again, just feeling like I have some choices is really helping. Choice is good.
Here's hoping another early night kicks the lurgy into touch a bit....
Oh... the guy from the party has been in touch again (I was stunned) and looks like we are meeting up on Wednesday
assuming I am better. I'll stay open minded but I do quite like him even though we have nothing in common bar giggling :rotfl: 0 -
There are far worse things to have in common bar giggling me thinks.

well, the lurgy is starting to lift at last and some positivity is returning thank goodness - it's a real pattern of feeling utter terror and despair when I'm ill, need to remember that and tell myself it will pass when it happens again
which hopefully it won't, I'm determined not to be ill for a while now!
Last night was lovely! :j a real surprise after the last time. We stayed in as we are both a bit skint, I cooked dinner and we watched Top Gun
and then started on Proof of Life as TV pickings were slim last night :rotfl: both of us were sad as he had to go
as he had an early start but looks promising for meeting up again. Lots of giggles were had and he is really growing on me
/
. Fingers crossed.
having a mehhh day with work stuff today but will try and get my head down to make the time pass and crunch/squelch my way through a few frogs. Brownies tonight so that should be fun, then a couple of glasses of wine and TV and an early night.
I had planned to go up north to my granny's this weekend, but firstly I don't want to pass on my germs (even though I am probably not infectious now) and secondly I really need an easy one to see off the lurgy properly and get back on track with my life - basically just some feet up/brain off time. 4-5 hours each way in the car will not help with this. I am sad not to see her but my weekends are in short supply at the mo and I am sick of feeling below par all the time.
So I will get some meal planning and batch cooking done, do some yoga and some gardening/jungle clearance. And some home blessing
I NEED fresh air to see off some cobwebs of the mind, body and spirit, so may head to the seaside on Sunday if I can find a willing victim
if the weather is good I will go on the bike. Last Sunday it was beautiful and I was stuck in Cambridge teaching! 0 -
Aw sounds like a nice evening. Sometimes it's the ones that start slowly that end up being the best long term
