Aww sounds like a fab weekend, mine was spent working! Ho hum
it'll pay for good things 0 -
What a great weekend. And lots to look forward to as well. Embrace it all!"Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.0 -
well, my singing friend came round last night and we had a whale of a time listening to each other's pile of CDs for inspiration, and then tried a few things out. We also have another session planned and a homework list :rotfl:
So we started with a Red Hot Chili Peppers song she wanted to try, and went via Bjork, St Etienne, Dubstar and ended up with a random White Stripes number, then hit on a UB40 song then a Cure one, then a Marilyn Manson cover and a bit of Nina Simone. Rounded off with a nice bit of Kate Bush
Both of us are into not being tied into a particular genre/style and just liking individual songs for some specific reason (if that makes sense), and from last night, have both discovered new stuff we had never listened too. I have a feeling this is going to be a wonderful journey :j :T
not much else to report - payday is on Friday and all the financial tangles should be tidied up then - a good thing as everything has been chaotic since holiday. I definitely need to simplify, I am juggling too many cards

afternoon all

exciting news - singer friend has asked me if I would like to join her and a guitarist she works with a lot, for a gig at the pub next Wednesday night - basically a longer set before the main open mic night starts later in the evening so I am  :eek: but :j:j:j !!!
I have a list of songs to get the gist of before our rehearsal on Sunday evening
And hopefully they will be under my fingers enough to give them a run through at Saturday's wedding too
working from home has gone ok today
I have some exciting stuff to work on this afternoon that will be tricky but should play to my strengths, plus it will be big old brownie points if I can get some good results from it
I had a big review of my available time yesterday lunchtime, did myself a timetable kind of layout and plonked in all the constant/commitment things like work, Brownies, zumba, teaching and a Saturday wedding slot. My week looks pretty full on with all these as it is, but it has highlighted to me that if I stay focused, there is plenty of time for some practice as well as Corrie (actually included this as a commitment :rotfl:) and a bit of loaf time as well.
Looks like my bleurghness last week was due to a cold coming as I have felt very sniffly the last few days. But think I got in early with the resting up/flaking out and it has not hit me as hard as it normally would
.... well for now at least!
Tonight is pub night but having had a hectic couple of weeks, I think I am going to embrace a little sofa time with the dogs, who are looking a little lost without mum and dad.
Last night I also found out about another Zumba class on a Sunday so may try this one too as it's not far from me (same distance as the other one but in the opposite direction
). I'm really enjoying it and it's really good for my shoulders and neck, as you have to move absolutely everything :rotfl: still haven't got the hang of shimmying yet - all my available material for shaking is behind me, not in front
Also need to decide what to wear for the gig. This month my extra I'm So Worth It fund will be available, and I should be able to get to town on Saturday morning or Sunday. Really I have plenty of fab things, but would be nice to add a little something.
The harp girl on Friday night had the most wonderful shoes, they made a great sound when she stamped on the floor so gave me some ideas for some additional rhythms to go alongside my harp
She also had a tambourine on the floor and stamped on that too. Quite cool as both my hands are already a bit busy

I used to have a timetable thing too, particularly useful when I was self employed and working from home, because I needed that structure to my days.
However, I did worry myself a bit when I was actually timetabling in "get dressed"

haha, yes I did wonder about how much detail to go to! In the end I just made 30 min time slots, but did put in time for getting up/dressed/breakfast etc. Had to laugh at the Corrie slots too

I'm not sure I will use it to stick to rigidly, but it was certainly a good exercise to show me how much time I have available to me if I Just Get On With It :rotfl: so will pin it to the wall over my desk.
Now I have done it, I recall seeing something similar in my former boss's diary (not that I was snooping, she would refer to it regularly if you asked for some time etc). She is a super efficient woman and is utterly inspirational on the how much can you pack in a day front - but interesting to know that she takes a lot of holidays too and has a very good work/life balance. Must think more on this!0 -
hmm.....perhaps I will ponder on this too.....:oSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

Wow!!
Great news on the music stuff, sounds like a great night was had with your singing friend.
Like your timetable idea, dont become too much like Hugh Grant in About a Boy though

ooh, haven't seen that! but knowing myself as i do, I will find something new to get excited about next week :rotfl:
But so far all good, I have managed a couple of good practice sessions and got through all my work today, and been up at a sensible time on both my work from home days, and eaten properly, walked the dogs, sorted my bike insurance and walked the dogs. Hopefully, the fact that this all feels doable is a sign that I am on the right path
Bit of an odd one on the old emotional rollercoaster. My new bike arrives on Sunday (or rather, I go and collect him). I put this on FB as my friends and family know I have been waiting a while.
The 'one who got away' posted to say 'fancy chips at the seaside one sunday'. I thought it was a bit odd (although not that odd as he has an eye for the ladies shall we say!) as he was engaged to someone else. .... or so I thought.
Seems not any more, and he is now down as single... so many feelings and thoughts. We had a brief but hugely enjoyable fling just before I met XF and the timing was all wrong, I was an emotional disaster area and he ran a mile
i don't blame him really! :rotfl:
Still, no sense in getting all wound up about it, if anything is going to happen, it will
but fingers crossed all the same
I made a fairly innocent that'd be nice, I don't turn down chips kind of post and will leave it at that.
Payday tomorrow. I finally had my hair cut today and it looks great, so that will come out of my ISWI fund
Still leaves a little bit left for something nice for next week
and will cover the drinks I bought last Friday night on my credit card

Oooh chips
especially chips with a nice man
Hope it goes well whatever happens!
Hope the timetable works for you too - I've thought about doing something similar but I tend to get a bit stroppy if I'm 'supposed' to be doing something at a certain time.. I think "no don't want to"
