Doggy cuddles sound lovely, almost as good as kitty cuddles. My friend has a gorgeous dog who is always ready for a doggy cuddle unlike my cat who only cuddles on his terms.
All cats cuddle only on their terms. I sent my sister a birthday card the front of which was just a big smug cat's face and the caption "Dogs come when they are called, cats take a message and get back to you"."Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.0 -
Souk - thank you so much, you are very right. I did just a little bit of mulling rather than actual thinking on the way into work, and with work stress levels easing off a little, it was amazing how many things just dropped into place and a wee plan is formulating. I have some seeds of thought in my brain and may well just leave them to do their own thing rather than prodding and poking them too much!
choogirl - I was very cross with Gavin  (need a smack smiley) he was really spineless I thought, but I did feel for him at the end as Vincent is an utter idiot who tends to bulldoze and I hate that. I agree that he had a tougher group of people to manage, although the other PM (susy?) did a really good job. I was mortified for him when he said Calm Down though as I knew he would get no end of stick for it and sure enough he has! :rotfl: never mind. he is welcome here for a cuddle any time, no issue of on my terms he can come right on in and make himself at home!
Wordsmith - I love the sound of that card. I don't know if you have ever seen lolcats (google them if you haven't), I am not a cat fan at all but these do make me laugh. You have to read the captions out loud in a cat voice for maximum effect :rotfl:
had a text from ex fiance yesterday, the normal flannel. he has paid his phone bill and was asking how i was and fishing lots. I didn't give in to tell him anything. He said he wished he had done things differently. I said I wished he had too
It's his birthday next weekend so he will be realising there is no home made birthday cake and (fake) champagne and presents and fuss this year. I am still angry with him but there is no point dwelling on it or looking backwards.
So. Key lime pie was delicious last night, didn't have to share it as my friend was already stuffed and couldn't fit anything else in :rotfl: there is loads left so shall enjoy it for several days to come :T
I think I am going to have an internet and text diet this weekend. When I have spare time so much of it disappears online and I am a bit fed up of my ability to waste ridiculous amounts of what is ultimately a very precious resource.
I came up with a new idea yesterday (well to me anyway, it's probably used by others already) - I have a little distraction list now. Basically when I was working yesterday, every time something popped into my head that I wanted to think about, I wrote it down to think about at the weekend. I have a nice little list brewing now, and for me I always find that the act of writing down seems to do somethign in my brain to resolve/clarify things. I think this is why things have started to pop into place this morning - I am a big believer in your brain working on things overnight.
So here is my list so far:
House - stay or go. long term/short term plans
Racing my bike - pros and cons. long term/short term. compromises reuqired
Career - day job, current employer, music
Being self-employed - doing music? something else?
Harp - amount of work I'm getting, trade-off with time/energy/injury. value of my instrument - should I trade down.
New bike - yes or no. which one.
Attitude to debt - will determine what I do with my gran's money
Dog situation - can i really contemplate life with no canines
Creativity - need some beautiful things around my home to add some personality. Generally need to make more space in my life for creative things
I looked at a blog which Firewalker has referred to on her diary yesterday, quite a young American guy whose name I can't remember. It was quite enlightening so I will read this some more - all about people expecting you to know where you are going and what your passion is, and feeling hemmed in by this and the alternative ways. My most hated question at interviews is "where do you want to be in 5 years time". I really have no idea!
OK that's enough waffle. I may pop back on a bit later but am going to aim not to be online tomorrow or Sunday. Will see how we go! Hope everyone has a lovely weekend

afternoon all,
well the weekend passed and it was mostly OK. I couldn't face Bluewater in the end, I need clothes but decided I couldn't be bothered driving all the way down. I know that if I get a certain feeling about shopping that day then I will end up annoyed and empty-handed so stayed home.
Plus the live coverage of the North West 200 (road race) was on the BBC website so got stuck into that - broke my no internet rule but think it was actually on the red button anyway! Even that ended up abandoned because of the weather and a massive oil leak but it was an enjoyable afternoon watching (or rather listening to!) the lovely Ian Hutchinson. He has the most wonderful voice and I never realised! :rotfl:
The rest of the weekend has not been particularly brilliant, was very upset yesterday and couldn't stop crying. Everything I did seemed to go wrong and I got very frustrated. In the end I sat down with some magazines for an hour and then decided to do some Davina as I always feel good afterwards and don't think about much else while I'm doing it as it's so knackering :rotfl: seemed to do the trick and felt better after.
I am really down about the harp, bikes, everything. Life has been pretty overwhelming the last couple of weeks and I have reverted to rabbit hearted rather than lion hearted (Florence and the Machine fans will understand the reference). I am trying not to dwell but a remark from ex fiance last week has really hurt.
So I am going back to basics - one foot in front of the other, just keep swimming, keep on keeping on, KBO, whatever you wish to call it.
Rough plan:- One snooze only on the alarm clock.
- Muesli and juice for breakfast every day.
- Straight hair and bit of make up on office days. Heels if at all possible.
- No spends on the vending machine - sugar overload makes me feel worse.
- Minimum 30 mins practice each night else Italy will be a disaster and I will feel worse about the harp.
- No alcohol til the weekend.
- Look after skin properly every night.
- 2 long Davina sessions at the weekend, 2 short ones this week.
- An hour cleaning in the week, an hour at the weekend.
- An hour gardening at the weekend.
Hoping to feel better soon.....:( I have a counselling session tonight and think it will be a weepy one.0 -
Awww Lionheartedgirl, I'm sending you a virtual hug (but not the dodgy icon)
I'm not surprised you're feeling overwhelmed you have had alot on and its hard to stay positive all the time.
I like your taking it back to basics list, I might try something like that as its so easy to neglect the small picture whilst trying to achieve the bigger picture. Sometimes its good to focus on what has been achieved rather than what hasn't yet been achieved.
Take care xx0 -

I like the plan, especially the snooze button one! I have a 6 week plan forming in my head but wont start until next week after holidays.
Plodding on can be hard, I know theres times I just want to hide under the duvet and not come out but those moments tend to pass...eventually x0 -
thanks
Am just heading off from work to supermarket then counselling - may go and have a little chat with the cows at the lovely pub near counselling lady's house. May even make room for a burger mmmmmmm! 0 -
