    Not really.
Prior to the 12th, the Rent-a-roof people were looking at returns in the 6-7 year range, now it's 11-12.

The panels would need to drop a _long_ way to make it comparable to what it was before, and that's just not happening, as the global price of the panels is not much affected by the tiny UK consumption.

Hi! I'm new on here, as you probably realise. I was looking for up-to-date info on Homesun, and found this forum listed. I thought some of you would be interested in this. My mother has solar panels, that were fitted for the previous homeowner by Homesun. She was visited last week by one of their fitters, to increase the signal by which the readings are taken. The fitter told my husband that all the fitters have been given notice, as Homesun's going to the wall, apparently. Nothing official has been announced, as far as we're aware, which is why I was looking for info online. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but those who are still waiting for their panels may well not get them now.

While adminstration is being put into place, they probably can't say anything. It's the same with every company in that situation. When some holiday companies went bust, people were still flying abroad and, in some cases, there had to be a huge effort to get everyone home. I have noticed that, locally, some of the scaffolding that's been left after installation of panels is now being taken down quite quickly. Either that's a contract company collecting their property before admin grabs it, or some Homesun employees are making off with it. The fitter did say that the contents of their van were gone over with a fine tooth comb. The person inspecting asked why they had no dust masks left, when they had been given twenty. The fitter had to point out that was two years ago!

    Hi

What needs to be remembered is that the business models of the RaR companies were originally based on 2009 prices and economics, being those at which the FiT was established .... bearing this in mind look at the prices which they will likely be paying now compared to 2009 .... http://www.solarserver.com/service/pvx-spot-market-price-index-solar-pv-modules.html .... looks to me like a reduction for Chinese panels from €1.67 to €0.85 in two years (Nov-Nov) ..... a reduction of ~50%.

If the business model worked in 2009 to start installation early 2010, why doesn't it work now ?? .... :D .... My guess is that it will be seen to work again as soon as the current argument with the government based on 'industry destruction' and 'insufficient margin' has reached it's conclusion .... ;)

    Dear HomeSun Customers,

We would like to clarify HomeSun ARE NOT going into administration. The fitters we use are sub-contracted to Carillion Energy Services, they have 4500 employees under a 90 day consultation. Just to reitterate this does not affect HomeSun at all as we use various other sub-contractors around the UK.

Really?! The fitter did say that he was employed by Homesun, and wasn't a contractor. Interesting when they believe otherwise about your company, and so many people are having to wait a LONG time for communication from you. Sorry to have spread doubt, then, but I'd never trust your company. And that's absolutely nothing to do with what the fitter said.

Is Mr Green not telling the truth then ? :rotfl:

Carillion is also the sole provider for Homesun, whose Chief Executive Officer, Daniel Green, labelled the proposed cuts as “impossible” for the industry and more specifically for aggregator schemes such as Homesun’s. Mr Green also warned that he would be forced to make redundancies if the cuts move forward as proposed.

:rotfl:Got ya! A case of left hand and right hand, I'd guess. And, of all the companies that have been installing panels on the IOW, Homesun was the only one to 'have a moan' in our local paper recently.
  • I always thought that all they had to do was dump the majority of their employees/sub-contractors and then just sit back and watch the money come in. Always assumed it was inevitable that this would happen.

Suppose Mr Green (now there's an oxymoron) will make out like a bandit.

Boy, am I glad I don't have to deal with this lot for the next 25 years (or their receivers).

    Karma. Lol.
