Oh Dear, Oh Dear. I really did not intend to post again here ... but ... I've just received a 'phone call from the former Homesun representative to ask if my installation had been carried out. It gets better. After the initial shock, I explained it had not, and what I thought of Homesun. Undeterred, this guy then told me, clearly and calmly, that Homesun had "gone under" and he was working for someone else who would be pleased to quote for a free system.
Two things cross my mind. The total lack of information Homesun shares with its employees and the unprofessional behaviour of those who work for them. Sorry Tanya, your lot really are the limit! Just send me back my contract please as you have promised to do and I can rest easy.
A number of considerations here, according to the Data Protection Act(1998) Homesun have a duty to protect your personal data which is in their care. As a former employee has effectively stolen the data Homesun have a responsibility to recover the data, the ICO should be informed of the data loss by Homesun, you should do this too, the police should also be informed by Homesun and also by yourself if you also wish to take this route.

We sincerely apologise you feel you have not been given sufficient information to backup the reason for not being able to fit your roof. If you send your details to customerservices@homesun.com we would be happy to clarify why we think it is not big enough.
Tanya
Well, I did get in touch and they phoned my wife back. It was a waste time: the converstion went around in circles as they insisted that the roof was first not big enough in spite of all evidence to the contrary then simply refused to budge from the "your roof doesn't fit our criteria" party line when we challenged the details. Our neighbour with an identical roof has a system larger than their minimum sized system but they refuse to revisit the details of our roof only suggesting we could "challenge" the decision if we wish by sending in photographs despite the fact they have already surveyed the property! I give up.
I'll take this as a narrow escape as I don't really want to enter into any transaction with a company that refuses to be straight with its customers. I feel for the staff, I assume they have been told to give this standard answer. When the dust settles on the FIT changes, I'll go elsewhere.0 -

Thanks for this. I have emailed Homesun just now to ask what they intend to do about this person and to ensure that no further information is used in this way. I will report any response and take further action as required.0 -
Out of curiosity I tried to contact the rep who came to us. Doesn't seem to be available. Hmmm......
As to your guy, Ted, they do say that rats always leave a sinking ship...!0 -
I'm sorry to hear that my suspicions about the company seem to be true, and so many of you have been messed about. Dth deeping, can I ask, did you ask Homesun for a copy of the lease to show someone? I've long had the feeling that, if my friends (from whom my mother bought her house) had asked, they would have been told that, all of a sudden, their roof wasn't suitable. The wife was very poorly, and her husband doesn't read well, and certainly couldn't have possibly understood the contract and conditions of the lease. Sad thing is, that several other elderly people in this road have had panels installed by this company.0

I didn't ask for a lease. I guess that would have been the next stage in the process once they had told me my roof was suitable, but as you can see, I didn't get that far!0 -
Bit of a mess all round, isn't it? :sad:0

I was promised the return of my signed lease plus the current land registry entry for my property.
I have not received either yet.
Can you afford the massive lawyer fee to challenge the government but cannot manage a first class stamp?
Shame on you all at Homesun.
Merry Christmas... Or does Santa remember who's naughty or nice?
I hope so...
P.S. Oh yes, and let's remember the two 'special' phone calls I've had these last couple of days. Nice to know that Homesun and Carillion are still talking. FYI; No, I'm not happy.0 -
Same here Doc. Nothing received despite promises.
Same for an official reply (apart from a brief telephone call saying it would be actioned) regarding the data protection issue I previously reported.
If anyone at Homesun is still working, a response to these requests would be appreciated.0 -
Hi all,
Finally received the lease back, although no copy of the land registry entry. Why am I not suprised.
Thank God we're finally rid of them. I've never, in all my years, had to deal with such a disorganised, amateur and unprofessional company. Absolutely shocking. I hope that in these times of austerity they have the sense to buck their ideas up.
Although I'm done with them, I indend to keep a close watch on future developments and on this forum, as well as keeping up the pressure on the media and politicians to expose this mess and get some proper regulation in place.
Happy new year to all.
