  • Just received another call from Homesun.

"Would you please take a picture of your new solar panels and send it to us?"

Yeah, of course I would. IF I KNEW WHERE THEY WERE!

Last I heard they were sitting in a warehouse in Exeter. I suggest you contact them.

    G'day again Doc,
It really grieves me to hear of the problems you have suffered at the hands of Homesun.
In my case everything went very well.
The only problem we had was with scaffolding, it was removed yesterday, and today another team arrived to remove non existing scaffolding, they had driven fifty miles and were not in a very good mood.
Oh yes the electricity meter now reverses direction when feeding into the grid, which I believe is Illegal in the U.K. Have been touch with supplier, by e-mail, as nobody answers the telephone, and their response is that they will be in touch within TEN working days.
Tomorrow I will be treating myself to a couple of bottles of liquid anaesthetic.
  • Hi sceptic,
I am genuinely happy to hear that it's gone (relatively) smoothly for
you and it's nice to hear a good story for a change.

My scaffolders had a few choice stories, and in my case they were sent out to me twice to erect scaffolding that was already there! Fortunately they only work five minutes down the road.

Must be and interesting experience watching your meter run backwards. Let's just hope it doesn't go past zero or that could make an interesting time for your meter-reader!

Alas, the option of liquid tranquiliser is off limits to me as I'm already on the pharmacological version.:(

    All the best,
    Doc.
  • After signing all the paperwork about a month ago, have just received a call to say as the installation has not yet taken place, it will not now happen at all. However, depending on outcome of FIT discussions mid-january, I will be one of the 1st customers to then receive installation if the FIT is reviewed favourably. I asked the question about cancellation of the current contract as obviously, they have not kept to the promised schedule & I was told I can cancel at any time upto installation.

A good friend of mine had his done this week by another company (freegreenelectricity) and I have been in touch & they are still offering free installs so have applied to them.

    G'day again Doc,
forgot to mention, that when we are consuming electricity the meter increments, so it's forwards and backwards.
I am taking daily readings in case of problems with our supplier.
On a dull day like today the system has produced 200watts.
Fluctuating from 7w to 77w so not enough to run the tv.
Best wishes to you yours for Christmas and the New Year.
  • snow : Thanks for the tip. I've got in touch with them. One of the main reasons I'm cheesed off with Homesun is that we applied six months ago but our survey got lost for two and a half months. Now we're suffering thanks to someones incompetance. That and the two mucked up install attempts.

sceptic : Merry Xmas to you too! Hopefully you'll generate enough to run the fairy lights lol.

    Hi

Take care to not have two contracts running at the same time .... this could come back and bite with very sharp teeth .... ensure you have confirmation of cancellation before signing a second contract for the same roofspace ...

  • After a lot of wrangling we managed to get our panels installed - although I wasn't happy with the Scaffolding. They tied the scaffold into the house (ie drilled holes in the outer walls for the scaffold pegs to bite into) - despite asking for these to be made good, they haven't.

Also amused, as I too had the requests for:

    1) a picture of our house/system so they can register the unit for the current FIT, and

    2) to provide a meter reading - thought they could monitor this through the GSM meter.

We have a digital "mains meter", which has an LED that flashes at a rate proportional to use - when we are feeding into the grid, the LED is constant. This doesn't occur to often, so havent been able to see if the meter goes back.

For those with the Fronius Inverter - plug in a USB and it will log the generated electricity, which then can be reviewed using free software from Fronius - it's turnng me into a geek!

  • Hi zeupater,

In this case we would have to cancel the contract unfortunately.

Hi Tanya, Please advise the best way to get confirmation from your company that the contract/lease is now void. As already mentioned on this thread, I do not want to go ahead with another compnay until I get a cast iron guarantee that the current (undated) contract/lease has been cancelled with you

    Thank you
