    PC World have lost my netbook and offered a refund of its purchase price from last year. I want a replacement of a netbook of the same build and spec which is priced at £30 more. Who is correct?

    Also remember Savercol, you have had the use of your netbook for some time (you don't say when last year you bought it)... could that be worth the £30?

    My elderly mother-in-law used the services of Jessops to convert some old photo slides to a photo cd that she specified needed to be viewed on her television. Jessops had to send the slides to Germany to be scanned (why i do not know) but after getting the cd and subsequent viewing on her televison, all of the photos were in landscape format so most of the photos are on their side.
    Bearing in mind this cost £125, she is rightly not happy about this as it was supposed to be a birthday surprise for her husband. I think that the service and cd are 'not fit for purpose' under the Sales of Goods Act.
    Would I be right in persuing this with Jessops as when she approached them, they said there was no mistake and that the photos were always intended to be displayed that way. Are these people daft. Do they think people want to look at sideways photos on a tv.
    Any advice would be greatly received.

    You haven't had goods, you have had a service, so the law is the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982.

    They must carry out a service with reasonable care and skil - which hasn't happened so I would go back and ask them to fix it.

    Went in ready for a fight but they were very nice and gave me the expensive netbook straight away. But here's the funny thing. Received a letter from KNOWHOW (pc world geeks) asking if we wanted to extend the warranty on the old netbook. The opening lines states "WE KNOW-HOW TO LOOK AFTER YOUR NETBOOK".:rotfl: Needless to say I've written back in their freepost envelope pointing out that they don't know how, they lost mine!:rotfl:
  • what right have B&Q got to ban me from there store as i was supposedly steal a blade that held fell into another tool bowx which was open at the egde.

    i did say i was going to pay but i hadnt even left the store and they pulled me into there security office an questioned me.

    can they do this as it was a total mistake.

    Any shop can refuse entry to anyone they like.

    Not much more to say is there?
  • Hi, I bought a TV (£1400) from Currys / pc world which was delivered in late November 2011. In January the screen developed dark horizontal lines. Currys / pcworld said that Samsung dealt with all their guarantee works and gave me their phone number to contact. After about a week they sent someone and changed the complete screen. Now 3rd February and TV has died again and cycles continuously on start up screen. Obviously I am now very unhappy with the quality of this TV. As I originally paid for this TV with a credit card, bearing in mind the previous repair, am I still able to claim that this TV is unfit for purpose? If this is how it is behaving in its early life it could cost a fortune to repair in the longer term.

    Having given them the chance to repair I would now be asking for a replacement TV; and yes, your CC company should be able to help.
