Quick questions on Consumer Rights

Sorry but i couldnt find anyway of starting a new thread.
I bought a HP Pavilion G series laptop from pc world in Aintree Liverpool on 17/02/12. Since purchase it has developed an intermittent problem with the mouse pad sticking resulting in a lack of movement with the on screen cursor.
I took the laptop into pc world on friday 02/03/12 and it was looked at by a member of your knowhow team who could not find a fault. I explained this fault is intermittent. He suggested i record this fault on a mobile phone.
Over the past 24 hours i have recorded this fault twice. my concern is that he mentioned sending the laptop away to be diagnoised etc. I only bought it 2 weeks ago and from previous research know that it can take alot longer than 7 days to get it back.
My question is what are my consumer rights?
Should i have to record the fault to prove it?
Can i simply demand a replacement?
thanks for your help and sorry again for posting in wrong thread.0 -

THESE are your consumer rights (blue text is a link)
If it were me I would be asking for a replacement or refund, given that you have had the laptop for such a short time. In my opinion (and this is what I would be telling the retailer) this item is neither of satisfactory quality nor fit for purpose.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

The Sales of Goods Act 1979 (Section 14) states that goods should be of satisfactory quality and last for a reasonable length of time http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1979/54#commentary-c1108895

Do not let them try and fob you off with the manufacturer, your contract was formed with them, they are liable. You are in the right. (I know you haven't mentioned the manufacturer but they might try it on)
If I were you I'd say that it is their problem that they have sold you a faulty product and that you demand an exchange or full refund because you are also within the 30 day cooling off period they shouldn't really argue, and bring in the sales of goods act s.14.

HOT TIP - NEVER JUST COMPLAIN - ALWAYS TELL THE COMPANY WHAT REMEDY YOU SEEK;)
I did tell them what I wanted in my original complaint/email but it was disregarded and the voucher offered. I decided after posting on here to post on their facebook page and guess what...full refund and reimbursement for having to pay on the plane...little bit of public complaining did the trick.Support is hope, hope is a brighter future, the future is looking happy.[/FONT]0 -

There is no such thing in this case.Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -
OK, trying this as a quick question type thing: I intended to purchase a ring, supposedly being a "special order", thus "bespoke" even though it is set to a standard ISO size for ring sizes, and has no customisation or personalisation. I've never had to buy a ring for myself (it's for a wedding) and so didn't know my size. I tried several "self assessment" tools and came to the conclusion that I may be a size "R". The company send ring blanks, small basic rings that you can try on to determine your size. I used these and the R size seemed far too big. I asked for more blanks, and found a ring size three sizes down fit well and was comfortable.
These rings were maybe 2-3mm wide with a curved inner circumference. I used these blanks provided, following the company's instructions to try them to help determine my size, and then asked for the order to be completed at the smaller size. Having received my ring it is clear that it is too small, and now I have been told by a different jeweller that I would likely need a size R, as I originally thought.
The company states upfront that there is a charge of 30% for resizing/exchanging/refunding an item that is a special order, however I feel aggrieved that after I have followed their advice and used the ring blanks that they have provided, that I have ended up with a ring too small, and now have to pay an extra fee to get the size I need.
TL:DR; If I am following a company's procedure for getting a ring size, and then the ring I get doesn't "fit" despite being the size asked for, am I within my rights to expect the fee they want me to pay to be waived (or at least to be given a full refund without their "restocking" deduction)?0 -
hi please can someone help me ? I brought a mothercare pram about a 11 months ago, i brought this pram as mothercare said it would last right from newborn to 3 years. which meant it would turn from a carrycot function to a stroller function.

Unfortunately you are unlikely to get anything because it is a functioning pram and you have used it for 11 months, even if it makes your child unhappy; sorry.
You could write and complain about the pram you bought, but don't hold your breath. If you do write tell them that they might wish to take your comments, as a mother, into consideration if they redesign this pram; that while babies are perfectly happy lying down toddlers want to be able to sit up and look around and the design of this model makes that impossible.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Hi, I bought some rather expensive make-up at the weekend from debenhams and within a week they now have a sale on and the items are reduced. Can I take them back and get the difference refunded? The items are completely unused.0
