A diary of a wonky tiara wearing domestic goddess, aged 21 and **a bit**

I could quite happily live in a supermarket! I have to have bags of willpower when I go in them and stick to my shopping list. Sometimes, I will walk there because walking limits what I buy because I have to carry it back home. I'm quite lucky because I have a corner shop on my road and I nip there for bread and milk. I don't mind buying the odd bar of choccy or ice lolly there because I can't buy heaps of junk.

It's 41 minutes past my bedtime - boo! Just done some surveys, hopefully I have a product to try winging its way to me and a clicker for shopnscan. I don't know if I am working tomorrow (it's my day off) - let's hope the phone rings. If it doesn't then I have a day of housework *le sigh* and the gym.:jOverdraft = Gone!! (24/6/11)

I hate shopping in supermarkets, which i think is where my problem lies. I want to get round there as quick as possible and out the door again, so I don't give myself time to look for the cheapest options! Just chuck stuff in the trolly and hope that it's ok!

Oh, do you know, I was only talking about this the other day haha. I was asking my chappie about it and he explained it to me but, tbh, it went in one ear and out of the other.
I'm not a fan of gambling as my brain wasn't designed to understand it lol. One of his friends plays cards - poker - online and has made an absolute fortune from it. I'm too chicken to do anything like that. In fact, my betting limit is usually a pound - or less.:jOverdraft = Gone!! (24/6/11)

Today is a treble whammy day because ... drum roll please ...
1. I got paid - yayyyy!!!!!!l
2. I got a seven week booking for my second job. That is the dreaded tax bill taken care of.
3. I received my shopnscan stuff.
Time to par-tay! Nahh, time to do the internet banking and be skint all over again (but be a few teeny tiny steps closer to becoming DF!)
A few moments later ...
Well, I am back in the red again. Oh! It was nice while it lasted. Anyhoo, time to roll up the sleeves and batton down the hatches. My cc is down to £600. Fingers crossed I can claw some more off it during the course of this payday month. I cannot set foot into a supermarket until the weekend but I need to draw some money out tomorrow so that I can buy some petrol and put the desposit down for our works do next month.
I have set my new budget on my iphone and a shopping list is in the process of being made. I also have a list of things to make whilst batch cooking next week but I must defrost the freezer first (well, do both on the same day).
Erm ... what else? I dunno ... right, gonna watch some tv before I crack on with work.
Oh yeah, my seven week gig means that, not only will the tax bill will be gone but I will have just over £140 left and £70 in holiday pay which I will claim as soon as I finish. All the more to go towards the debts. The only problem is that my petrol consumption will go up as it is a 90 minute commute (in tota, each dayl). Mind you, seven weeks is nothing in the grand scheme of things, is it?:jOverdraft = Gone!! (24/6/11)

Hi there,
Congrats on the treble whammy day! Seems like you have a really good attitude and you come across as very positive!
Also - I sympathise with the men and their wants/needs "confusion"... mine won't compromise on daft things, like brand-name bread, or a meal "not being a meal without meat in it"... god knows!“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goals.”

haha yea I know what you mean about the 'branded' thing. I would just make them a sandwich or something with your supermarket own brand bread, they won't tell the difference when they are eating it, then tell them after!! I found a few shop brand things which are better than brand-name things, they get used to it![STRIKE]Family £400[/STRIKE] CC1 [STRIKE]£415[/STRIKE] Lloyds [STRIKE]£460[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]Natwest£750[/STRIKE] £627.59 Tesco [STRIKE]£1880[/STRIKE] £1725 Grand total £2,352.59

@lottie379 Thanks
Sometimes I just feel as though I am going circles. Chappie can be an utter food snob but he is slowly getting better. Thing is, I have no idea where he gets it from because his parents live in pound shops!
@Kei Men are a funny species at times!
Well, I got paid from my second job but the tax man did not claw any of my unnecessary tax rebate back. The rotters! I am guessing that chappie was right after all. Why does the tax man make things so difficult at times?! Surely it would be easier all round if they gave me a bill for the full amount instead of taking it in dribs and drabs. I am keeping an eye on it anyway and I will go bonkers should they take any more.
Anyhoo, I paid some more off my CC bill and for the first time in what seems like years it is in the £500 zone - £585 to be precise. I put a tenner in my bills account as I might as well start putting extra to one side for my winter bills. The amount left over was put into my savings account. I know I know that people on here say that you should not save when you are in debt and, they are right, but my car is on its last legs. I am thinking ahead!
My total CC and OD debt is £1085. If, and it is a big if, I stick to my guns my debt will be a couple hundred less come my next payday (in June).:jOverdraft = Gone!! (24/6/11)

I clear £1420 a month but, with bills (excluding groceries) and debt repayment, I am left with £433 a month. I was paid a few days ago and, with my second (and temp third job which has now ended - one wage still outstanding but won't get that for a month) and a few expenses I have earned another £228.99. This brings the grand total to £1648.99. My second job will bring in some much needed extra pennies this month.
Out of the new grand total, I have paid an extra £131.68 off my debt, making the debt repayment (excluding mortgage) to £360.09 and, the payday month is only three days old.
Oh, if only I had no debt because that figure would look fab sitting in my savings account.
Onwards and upwards!

I agree with the car savings, most definitely! Beastly, expensive things, but the trouble is, if you need one for work etc, you need one. It is a serious problem... at the moment mine is *slightly* unnecessary during uni terms, but I need some way of getting myself and my stuff there and back (parents helpfully dropped me off for my first term and then left me to it from there), and for my research stuff, and jobs when I'm at my Mum's place, no-one will employ you if you don't drive. Possibly as they know how unreliable the buses are!
On the chap front, I can't say I don't appreciate good food too, so it isn't entirely his fault. But the bread thing, I just don't get! Among others. I think also being together for the last 2 years hasn't done him favours, as I've been around during his living by himself for the first time and all that, and I've had much more experience doing food planning and budgeting!“Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goals.”

I couldn't function without a car. Getting to work and other places would be a nightmare without one.
Not made any extra payments today but I haven't spent any money either. I received my shopandscan stuff and already have 1600 points. It will take seven weeks to amass enough points to claim a voucher and, by this reckoning, I will have £50 saved by December (including the free one to begin with). This will be going on house stuff as I am sick of cat hair on carpet and want laminate. I have no idea how much laminate will cost but you can spend shopandscan vouchers in B&Q and Homebase so win win.
I also got enough mysurvey points to claim a fiver today. This means that I will have just over £25 in my paypal account from surveys and quidco. This is my frittering account as it isn't real money if that makes any sense. It is my goal to earn another tenner on opinion world this week so, survey gods, please smile kindly on me! I am >this close< to the fifty pound mark on yougov. Once I have it, I am knocking yougov on the head as it takes too long.
Today, I have mopped, dusted, swept and cleaned. Just have the dreaded Ironing Mountain to tackle and I am done. Defrosting the freezer tomorrow. I hate that job with a passion!
