OP,
Have you tried the phone numbers i posted for you on page 2? 08457001200, 0845927210. They were useful for me about 6 months ago when i called RM following selling something on ebay which turned up broken. Their initial response to my letter asking for the compensation for the item (only a few quid) as i had to refund buyer, and they erroneously sent me a reply porving it had been delivered, with those numbers on it. I called the first number and after a while of prodding options got through to a human and told them in no uncertain terms to get it sorted. It might be worth your while giving them a call incase they are ignoring your emails.0 -

Thanks, that's real helpful. Problem solved. RM thanks you too. Really. You've been great.0 -
Also, I don't expect the man in the post office to laugh at me when I try to phone them to get them to redeliver it. Nor do I expect him to say 'no I wont redeliver it'.
Royal Mail and the Post Office are two separate companies. The gentleman who runs the Post Office where the parcel is has no obligation to deliver it to you, and he's correct in saying "no I wont redeliver it".If I was not in, they could have left it with a neighbour, or, heaven forbid, just try to redeliver it again under their own steam.
Royal Mail staff are not allowed to leave parcels with the neighbours unless you have given written permission for them to do so.
They operate by attempting a delivery and then leaving a card for the customer to either collect the parcel or to arrange a redelivery. Resources are already very stretched and they haven't got the transport or man hours to attempt redelivery on every single undelivered item, hence they give you the collection or redelivery options.
I would ring or email politely and explain what has happened, and ask what they are going to do next to sort this out. Being polite will probably get a better result than ranting and writing derogatory comments about them. Here I go again on my own....0 -
OP - I think the point is that you are coming across as pretty irrational and like you hate the world and vice versa.
Might be an idea, to calm yourself down and have a little think about how you are going to sort your problem out.
Currently you are making yourself look a touch daft.0 -
Why? Do you think RM are cheaper than other companied now? They aren't you know. And they are putting up their prices.
RM ceased to be a decent company when the post office became franchises (or whatever they are). Like everything else that thatcher started, breaking it up to make it better made it infinitely worse. The only way to fix it now it to make it one again and take away the right for other postal companies to deliver mail and fix the prices so that RM are a non profit monopoly. The same goes for the trains and the buses and ...
Of course, it will never happen. Too many millionaires running too many private companies now. Thatcher should be jailed for what she did. Now that would be fair. Better yet, let the nation decide. Put her on trial before the nation.
Oh what a loony I am.
Of course prices have gone up, its costs more to deliver mail now, do you really think it only costs 46p to deliver a letter?
And on the talk of breaking up and being owned by millionaires... hmmm

Competiveness of good, it keeps a company focused on what it's main aims are, lose them and you lose business.0 -

Yes - I did know the circumstances
And I still stand by my actions - and would the same again.
I really hope that, if you (or I) were ever the victim of any crime, then witnesses would come forward rather than simply walk on by because they think they are doing the governments work.
You really are angry at the world aren't you.
Jeepers. If I wrote that wrong, which I may well have, I apologise. But I don't think I did. I think I've stated at least three times, that I have not, at any point, been commenting on the situation you referred to. Nor did I say, or mean to say, you were wrong, because I do not know the circumstances. I can't say it any clearer than that (assuming that is clear). I was always speaking in the hypothetical.
Now I'm sure I never said that about walking away because they thought they were doing the governments work. Hooo boy. What I said was don't (in the general case, not yours) go shooting your mouth off to the police about anything, because they will twist it to fit their case, and not their case to fit the facts. The best example I can think of is all those endless 'inadmissable' things in any and every court case, which are decided on by the judge. If the jury is to decide (assuming there is one) they should have all the facts, not the police/judge edited 'highlights'. And its those highlights that you feed to them if you (or I, or anyone) runs off at the mouth without thinking. The public has rights you know (not many left now), but you have the right to think. I know I'm sounding like a loony, and nobody is reading this anyways, and I can't say it coherently now, but please people think before you tell anyone anything that may get them in trouble with anyone. They may be justified. The 'victim' may have deserved it. You know, its possible, and the police are the least qualified to judge. And a judge can't even spell judge. And I'm probably breaking the law even writing such things! You really are angry at the world aren't you.
I get that a lot. Unsurprisingly. I am angry. Because no one cares about anything. And I've seen, personally, too many good people torn to pieces for either trying to stand up and make a difference, or to right a wrong that would not have been righted in any other way. (And no, I am not referring to anything 'illegal' or murderous or anything else nefarious - just good people trying to make a better society, that the very people they are trying to help tear apart because they're bored and have got nothing better to do with their time).0 -

Then why allow me to arrange for a redelivery and then acknowledge that you will redeliver it?Royal Mail staff are not allowed to leave parcels with the neighbours unless you have given written permission for them to do so.
They've done that here in the past. Is that a recent change? They've even left things that were supposed to be signed for on my doorstep before now. They operate by attempting a delivery and then leaving a card for the customer to either collect the parcel or to arrange a redelivery. Resources are already very stretched and they haven't got the transport or man hours to attempt redelivery on every single undelivered item, hence they give you the collection or redelivery options.
And then fail to redeliver? Now I'm confused.I would ring or email politely and explain what has happened, and ask what they are going to do next to sort this out. Being polite will probably get a better result than ranting and writing derogatory comments about them.
They have received no derogatory comments from me. All the stuff here (except the first post) is only here.
I did ring them, and he kaughed and me and refused to redeliver.
I have emailed them 9 times over a week, received one promise to redeliver (they didn't) and two 'we are looking into it' emails that contained the exact same text (and so I assume were automated).
This whole thread has gone awry. To get my parcel I think I am going to wait for them to send it back to the sender and then claim my money back and reorder. It's either that or ask my friend to make a 60 mile round trip to get it to me. Meanwhile I'm going to order some more medication because my missing leg is hurting now. I was told not to get worked up! My own fault of course, but then it always was.0
