Sooner Royal Mail goes bust the better

Ha ha ha. Once again I'm touched by the kind feelings emitted by my fellow man. Let's have a good laugh.
My medication is pain relief after loosing my left leg. Ha ha ha. Let's all have a laugh at the spac.
And on that note, any sympathy I may have had for you, has rapidly diminished, I shall leave you to go back to your rant. But one last thing, be careful what you wish for, if Royal Mail goes down the pan, you will have more than a redirection to a post office to worry about, some couriers will not carry drugs, some are not licenced for it, and some don't even have a depot nearby if you miss the delivery slot. Oh and prices will head skyward, at a rapid rate.0 -
You people are really nasty.0

To be honest I don't think its fair, in fact I don't think that 6 months is enough, if you are not planning on using it, why take it out and break the law?
I like the 'and break the law'. Like its not the fact that he took it out that you object to.
Not that long ago it was not against the law, even here, to carry a knife. So they make it against the law. Now everyone that carries a knife is a loony psychopath. When they finally force through the illegal download/copyright thing that will be against the law. I wonder if you'll feel the same when they take away your internet (which is absolutely nothing compared to your freedom) after big brother accuses you of downloading something you shouldn't have. Or your kid does it. Or you have a dynamic IP and your neighbour does it.
I wonder, what do you think is enough? As far as we know the person we are discussing simply took out a knife. He harmed no one. Do you think a year is enough? Two years? Five? Ten?
People like you make me truly sick to my stomach. You are willing to do untold things to anyone and everyone else, despite knowing nothing whatsoever of the circumstances, which is the whole crux of what I was saying, but if it were to happen to you, or someone you care about, it would instantly become the worst thing that ever happened anywhere in all history.
We have been going on the assumption that this hypothetical person did no harm. If he had stabbed someone to death I would agree with you. Punish him. The punishment would never be agreed upon by any two people. That's just the way it is. But you'd take away six months of this unknown person's like for simply taking out a knife in public? I pity anyone that is accused in a case that you are on the jury.Saying that, I have no problem with your postie carrying a knife, just in case....
Because I'm a loony. It's soooo funny. I think I've split a side laughing.0 -
blimey, what a difference a few hours makes..... after all these posts i even went back and attempted to read the OP for the first time. i have no idea how this moved to carrying knives (and there was a post on here a few months ago about how it isn't illegal and what knives you could carry - facts matter in rants like that!).

I don't want your sympathy. Why would I? You don't know me. You wouldn't care if you did.But one last thing, be careful what you wish for, if Royal Mail goes down the pan, you will have more than a redirection to a post office to worry about, some couriers will not carry drugs, some are not licenced for it, and some don't even have a depot nearby if you miss the delivery slot. Whereas postal charges aren't rising at the moment anyway?
And there will always be licensed couriers for drugs.
And every other courier I have used (at least 3) redelivers when they say they will. That's the point.0 -

All people are really nasty.
Those that aren't are either (a) faking it until you do something they don't like or (b) not yet utterly corrupted by those around them (think decently brought up kid after one week of exposure to school).0 -
What the person did was totally wrong - fullstop.
Why was it totally wrong? Because the government says so? Get real. You do not know the circumstances.Going widely off topic - but are you suggesting we take the law into our own hands ?
No, not at all. Read my other posts if you like. I am suggesting that (a) we stop allowing the government to make anything they like against the law and (b) we stop allowing the government to hand out ludicrous form sentences based upon act rather than circumstance and (most importantly) (c) the public actually takes notice when something bad happens (say, for, example, this person we are discussing was innocent due to X, and his people prove it, but the courts ignore it - then the public must do something about it). That is what I am saying. You have jumped off the deep end, which happens a lot in my experience, LOL, because I suggest that six months of someones life may be too much punishment for simply waving around a knife in public. Let me ask you this: part of the new almost-law regarding downloading copyright material over the internet also carries a possible six month sentence. Will you agree with that law that your government has handed down to you if they send you or someone you care about down for six months? You can't claim you didn't do it, because, as has been proved numerous times now, the copyright police can 'prove' you did do it, and the courts will believe it, despite numerous ways the data can be provably wrong. Are you saying that I should turn a blind eye in certain circumstances ?
No, quite the contrary. I am apalled by the way people do turn a blind eye. I want people to take more interest in what is around them. In their own community and those in it. Instead of just accepting whatever the police, or whoever, do, as 'right'.And you think it is me that is the cause of the problems in this country
Still - no need to reply at all, because this has nothing to do with your issues over your package in the sorting office....
As I stated before, I know nothing of the case you stated, so I cannot comment on it. Nor could I if you told me, because it would just be chinese whispers. What is the cause of the problems in this country is (a) the people and (b) the government. The people don't care about anything except themselves. Period. The government are crooks. Period. Even when you show (a) what (b) are nothing changes. And so (b) get worse.0 -
Google any delivery company, they all have thousands of complaints, but then they deliver millions of parcels so its going to happen.Personally, if I order something I make sure its to an address where someone is actually going to be in to receive it.If I'm not then its my own fault I didn't get it.0

can you not ask a friend to take you so you can pick it up, is the PO or where ever it is far to get to
Unsurprisingly, I don't have many friends. The nearest is 30 miles away. How can I ask them to make a 60 mile round trip to pick up something that is 1/2 mile down the road from my house?in reply to your thread title, if RM go bust then i cant see another firm coming in to do it for free or cheaper than rm does it for
Why? Do you think RM are cheaper than other companied now? They aren't you know. And they are putting up their prices.
RM ceased to be a decent company when the post office became franchises (or whatever they are). Like everything else that thatcher started, breaking it up to make it better made it infinitely worse. The only way to fix it now it to make it one again and take away the right for other postal companies to deliver mail and fix the prices so that RM are a non profit monopoly. The same goes for the trains and the buses and ...
Of course, it will never happen. Too many millionaires running too many private companies now. Thatcher should be jailed for what she did. Now that would be fair. Better yet, let the nation decide. Put her on trial before the nation.
Oh what a loony I am.0 -
Why was it totally wrong? Because the government says so? Get real. You do not know the circumstances.
Yes - I did know the circumstances
And I still stand by my actions - and would the same again.
I really hope that, if you (or I) were ever the victim of any crime, then witnesses would come forward rather than simply walk on by because they think they are doing the governments work.
You really are angry at the world aren't you.“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0
