I don't know if it would work over here. When I worked at Tesco, the maximum total value of coupons you could use in one transaction was £5. There doesn't seem to be that restriction in American stores.

I've been enjoying Make Do and Mend and I did learn something! The tip about using matches to fill a hole that's too big for a screw will come in handy, I'm sure.

Did anyone watch extreme couponing last night? It was great. There is no way we could do that over here though :(

I saw it for the first time last night:eek::eek::eek:

IMHO those people have an unhealthy obsession. Mind you, I wouldn't mind a wee go at a smaller version of it, but I can see why they have got addicted.

I'm afraid I would be one of the addicts if we could do that over here. I read a blog of someone who was in the US and into that couponing thing, but what he used to do was take a van load of food, toiletries etc each week to his local food bank. So not only did he feed himself with it, he also fed many other folks too.

On one occasion he took hundreds cartons of cereal that he had obtained for free (he'd even spoken to the supermarket about his couponing plans, and they'd supported him, arranged a special order and set aside a cashier for him - since they would be getting the money back from the manufacturer in any case). I think it'd be a fun thing to do like that.

I have already mentioned this on another thread. But that is what I would do. Give a lot of it away if I get if for next to nothing or free.

As one person on the show had a 1000 tubes of toothpaste. Why? And if it is anything like supermarkets in the uk. The same sales come and go at each supermarket every few weeks.

The only thing I did have an issue with is lack of fruit and veg either fresh of frozen. It might be that they buy it at another time. But most coupons seemed to be for boxed foods.

Darn I missed Extreme Couponing.....I'll look for it on the -player thingy or you tube. Make Do And Mend today I was most taken with the peeling crisps...think the compost bin might be missing out now :D

As for Super Scripmers - not sure I'd do the everyone in one bath thing....surely the point of a bath is to use water to get clean? Not get the previous person's dirt? Corsage was good though - don't understand why people don't make their own things like this more. I'm planning to make people totes this year and decorate them with button designs for [christmas] an event at the end of December..... LOL!
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

back in the bad old days of electricity cuts in the 1970s the Government put out an edict that to help us all get through the tough times that it was a good idea to share a bath to save on the electric.I was lucky that I had two little girls who though got untidy wern't as bad as say my four young grandsons would get today. One of them Henry (9) is a complete dirt magnet as he is football mad andgets filthy within minutes of going out to play Jack (11) isn't as bad but Mikey (6) is also a little sweep.I don't think I would want to share their baths, although the older ones mainly shower. We were urged in those far -off days to share a bath with a friend !!!! the mind boggles :):):)

Still loving 'Make Do And Mend'. I liked the idea of the potato peeling crisps too.
