If you have long term medical problems that stop you from working, you should claim.

    Are you sure?

You have to come into one of these categories, as well as being in the first group listed.

    "a lone parent
    on parental or paternity leave
    a carer
a refugee learning English who arrived less than a year ago"

the 4 categories you list *may* be able to get Income Support, repeat, *may*. Dave does *not* have to come into one of those categories. He has to be in the first group listed.

at least then i would be left alone.

    Can you define "left alone".

Do you want the state to "leave you alone"? Surely that means "sign off" or repeal your claim?

Or do you mean "I want the governments intervention in regards to the money, but not the intervention with regards to the proving I am ill".

    Very different things.

How about no longer being masochistic?
    How about remembering your divinity?
How about unabashedly bawling your eyes out?
How about not equating death with stopping?

No, you have to be in a category in both lists, otherwise anyone on a low income (as an example) would be eligible to claim IS.

So just to be clear, you meant my latter : "I want the governments intervention in regards to the money, but not the intervention with regards to the proving I am ill".

Well I cant help you on that, I am sure others will though as there are lots of people on the forum.

All I will say is that I am glad that the government put people through medicals and "pathways to work" when they claim they can't possibly work. The more the better IMO.

If you can't work and are genuine, you will pass each one so there is no problem is there?
