When I was about 9 my mum completely cured my habit of leaving food under the bed by telling me that it would attract the two things I was most afraid of - mice and spiders.
I was messy after that - still am - but at least I was clean and messy.0 -
I once picked up 21 pairs of dirty knickers and 9 very yucky mugs from my daughters room... but that was many years ago and now I listen to the tales of WOE from her about the state of her own 15yr old daughters room.... I have to smile to myself...
:rotfl: You sound like my mum, rofl! I think that's one of the perks of having grandkids - or payback as mum calls it lol.0 -
My bedroom was generally a tip, i'm in the box room (seriously, why do these even exist, there's not enough room for ANYTHING!) and at my worst it was piled high as you'd like - funny thing though, i could find ANYTHING i wanted within 30 seconds of me starting to look for it! These days i've seen the light (well, a bit) and tidied it and funnily enough i now don't have enough space for anything!
My sister however, is living in absolute piggery, she's got arguably the biggest room in the house (double the size of mine!) and it's under litterally 3ft of clothes, rubbish, dishes & what could honestly be described as junk (old magazines, papers, stuff from school/college which she finished years ago!), it's so bad she can't even get to the curtains and well, i have my doubts that she could remember the colour of the carpet! However she's been told it needs fixing since we're about to get gas put in, so she's now currently tidying up in preperation for a visit by the gas board on Monday, personally if you ask me, i'd say world peace will happen quicker than that being tidied!Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -

i have 2 messy ones here.
DD8, will get what ever out but 'forget' to put it away, whereas ds13 'forgets' to put it away in the first place
I get a black bin liner out every few weeks and tell them that whatever is left on the floors or sides in an hour they obviously dont need so it will be going to the charity shop.
Works for a day or two then back to a tip again.
Today dd's room was reasonably tidy, she had a friend round and they were colouring in (all fine so far) we went off to the park when we came back miraculaously there was pencil sharpenings over the floor - and no they had no idea how they got there :rotfl:
The children are not allowed to eat/drink in the bedrooms, although dd does take a little bottle of water to bed with her at night but brings it down the following morning to put in the dishwasher. IF she doesnt bring it down then she has to go without that night. My beloved dog Molly27/05/1997-01/04/2008RIP my wonderful stepdad - miss you loads:Axxxxxxxxx:Aour new editionsSenna :male: and Dali :female: both JRT0 -
Back in the day when my older daughters were little and they didn`t tidy their room, I would tidy it and pay myself with their pocket money. Didn`t have to do it that often.0

You let an 8 year old parade in front of the world on Youtube? It's not something I would do. Are you aware that !!!!!philes like nothing better than seeing pre-pubescent children bouncing around in front of the camera?0

my boys are 16, and there bedrooms are a pig sty too, food and drink not allowed upstairs, but they come home with crisp packets, choc wrappers etc in there pockets, and wen they put clothes in wash all the wrappers get left on the floor why??? they take them out of pockets, so they are in there hand anyway so why not drop in bin instead of floor.
both boys have clothes all over their floor. most of the time there door is shut so i dont have to see it, but i get so embarrassed when the window cleaner has been. what must he think??loves to knit and crochet for others0 -
Your DD sounds exactly like mine!! Ihave tried everything to get her to be tidier and I have given up. Every so often I gut it, usually when she is not there so I can chuck stuff into dustbin liners and throw it away without her noticing. I veer between desperation, depression, frustration and hysteria at the sight of her room, it takes me all my time to get to the bed to make it. There are usually towels and clothes all over the floor. Luckily not dirty underwear as she leaves this on the bathroom floor, or maybe on the landing outside her bedroom door. I read out the "fashion show for youtube" bit of your post and I saw a lightbulb ding above her head and she rushed off upstairs..... (She is 12 by the way and has always been really untidy)
DD1 however - her room is like a showhouse bedroom, (until you open the wardrobe door and the contents fall out on you) nothing is ever moved.
:rotfl:at stig of the dump - this is what I will call my DD from now on, perfect description.0 -
My DD's 9 and her room is a pit. It gets done out by me every so often the last time it was just before Christmas as we decorated it. I have decided to leave it now though because it's unbearable in there. I just tell her to tidy it every day. When it's really bad I stop her from going outside to play and she's not allowed to play with her friends.
She'll leave home one day though and I'll miss her!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0
