daughters bedroom

Iv just compleated sorting out my daughters room:eek:. Id been putting it off as it was a tip. My daughter is eight and although we do encourage her to tidy up it every so often I have to do a clean sweep.

I found cat food in bowls under her bed:mad: along with clothing , pencils , sweet wrappers, toys amongst other things.

Every article of clothing was pulled out of the wardrobe due to her doing a fashion show for you tube.

Anyone else have untidy children whose room becomes a death trap or is it just me with stig of the dump, lol.

I think most kids would happily go Stig if we let them lol.

Mine doesn't get friends over to play, or allowed to go play at friends, if her room isn't tidy. I have a rule of no food or drinks in her room too. She's 9, but I don't think 8 is too young to have the responsibility of putting her clothes away in their proper place etc.

It doesn't have to be perfect, just tidied. We sort through her clothes and shoes about twice a year, to keep the drawers etc clear of stuff she'll never wear again.

    Cat food??????

Seriously, how????? In the interest of hygiene this bit needs addressing!

Other than that, pretty standard stuff imo. Some kids are naturally more messy than others (I have one neat one and one scuzzy so it can't be down to upbringing!) The scuzzy one tidies because he is refused something he likes/wants until his room is presentable. Left to him alone, it would never get done. So it's down to good old-fashioned 'mean mum' tactics

The easter holidays we are gutting every room.. I am starting with SPD so it may be christmas before I am able to do it again so it is getting a very thorough going over while they are off school.. I have OH here to help me and the children all home. I will do clothing and they can do all the lifting and shifting!!!

I'm not a parent so quite happy to be put right...but she wasn't allowed to do this unsupervised was she? And if so....couldn't she have been made to put the last outfit away before filming the next?

I once picked up 21 pairs of dirty knickers and 9 very yucky mugs from my daughters room... but that was many years ago and now I listen to the tales of WOE from her about the state of her own 15yr old daughters room.... I have to smile to myself...

My dd is 18. I've had 10 years of [STRIKE]complete pigsty[/STRIKE] untidiness. I've tried everything over the years, nagging, rewarding, and everything in between. It's not made a bit of difference. I'm now waiting until she leaves for university in September to have her room tidy for more than a day!

I don't understand it. She is a clever girl as well and she can never find anything! Most of the time it's a death trap. I close the door on it now. I know when I've lost a battle!

No, my eldest son is just as bad, DS2 has the box room so when anyone comes around they go into DS1's room, boys seem to find it impossible to put anything in the bin, clothes get took out of drawers but the drawers don't get pushed back in so the clothes end up overflowing, although things have been a lot worse when he was younger I can remember a time you couldn't even walk across the room as the floor had so many toys littered all over, but they do get £2.50 a week from their Nana if there bedroom is tidy when she comes over once a week.

Have to say though when I was little my room was always really tidy, my friend had a room that was really messy and I secretly wanted a messy bedroom but it just wasn't in my nature then to be messy - now with 2 children!!!!!!!! the moral is be careful what you wish for

My children have to tidy their room daily, not spotlesss tidying, but taking out laundry, hanging up clothes, and putting things away off the floor! We have a no food rue in the bedroom, so issues with wrappers and plates etc!!

I cant wait for my dd (only 8) to have her own kids. Hope they give her hell and keep their rooms as messy as she does.

Hubby and I take it in turns to venture in once every couple of weeks with a big bin bag and tell her to tidy up. We have a savings account up and running to pay off whichever poor !!!!!! asks for her hand in marriage first :D
