Heh, I can only speak from personal experience, and that's mine as written.0

Lalaland you intimated in your post about your child screaming and running around. Its not the screaming that worries me. Its the running around in a place where hot drinks are served. Its bloody dangerous. Im sure waitresses arent paid danger money (most of them are on low or minimum wage) so why should they or other customers risk third degree burns. And can you honestly say hand on heart that you wouldnt be blaming the waitress or the customer that he runs into if the worst happens.
It seems a lot of parents are happy to pocket the Child Benefit and the tax credits etc but i bet they wouldnt be willing to use this money to compensate a scalded waitress or customer.
If my child is at fault I would not blame the waitress or other customers.
I know just how hard it can be as I was a waitress for years and its hard work with kids running around, although I have to say the worse thing was in the one pub I worked they allowed dogs inside - now that was a nightmare trying to serve food with all the dogs trying to get at the plates.Challenges 2012 -GOLD - HolidaySILVER - IphoneBRONZE - Cash£2012 in 2012 - £0/£20120 -

No matter what, I would never hit someones child! How rude! And how rude that someone then told YOU off for what you said!
That is utterly terrible!
I know I was shocked when she said it, I would never dream of saying that to someone. I think becasue she was more upper class than me and i looked a bit like a chav the other person assumed it was all my fault.Challenges 2012 -GOLD - HolidaySILVER - IphoneBRONZE - Cash£2012 in 2012 - £0/£20120 -

I agree,a child running round a caf! screaming is NOT acceptable under any circumstances.
People should be tolerant of children with disabilities such as ADHD,but it doesn't mean that parents can use it as excuse to not to remove their child from a caf! or restaurant when a child's behaviour is obviously disturbing other customers.0 -
I dare not comment in detail because if I do I doubt I'd stop, needless to say after being unfortunate enough to be in a Morrison's twice in one week, I shall be sticking to Sainsbury's.If it wasn't for the mistakes I made in the past (and learned from), I wouldn't be who and where I am today. It doesn't matter if you've cocked up, what matters is that you put it right and apologise. x0

My husband used to have a job caring for children with ADHD and autism.
If a child's behaviour got out of hand, he would take them outside, while apologising to the people that were around.0 -

Like all the good magazines, hehe
Back to the OP though, I tend to agree. It is perfectly possible for tiny children to have fun without screaming. Not their fault, as they don't know any different. But I do feel sorry for some of those children.
As a young lady who, in all likelihood, cannot have children it always breaks my heart when I see the sorts of kids you mention. There are some in my street - one of them, a nice little boy, was lifted bodily off the ground by his father and held in the air by his ears. In front of a Policeman. Ye gods. I always used to think I was very worldly before I moved there - but I was utterly stunned when I heard a 3 or 4 year old call his sister a "f***ing c**t" with pure malice. And yet there are other children in the same street who could not be nicer and who barrel around playing outside with no mindless screeching, swearing, or violence.
'Twas ever thus, I daresay...:(0 -

I am off work this week and I have just been shopping in the local town ye gods I saw some badly behaved parents! One guy was comparing tatoos with his lady love whilst their baby howled in her pram, sun was full in her eyes and their older child (2 ish) was runniing wild on the street, no problem Daddy got his attention with a well timed "Come here now you little T**T or I will knock your f'ing head off" Lovely I bet he has a fab vocabulary when he gets to school. I also saw a very large child ( ie not a toddler) having a full blown tantrum in the shopping centre as her mum wouldn't buy her something or other, she was screaming and banging her feet on the floor and her mother was making it worse by bellowing and swearing back at her.0

Unfortunately I live in the North West, I bet she was at least 15!0
