Nearly 30, in debt, lost and nervous! I need to change.

Mine was pretty dire too! I'm not really sure to be honest, I suppose it was a good couple of years, making sure that everything was paid on time, no late payments etc and I was amazed when I was accepted for a 0% card but it was worth the wait.
Not sure about strong - stubborn might be closer the markI always said 'oh, I'll sort it by the time I'm 30' and just bumbled along from one financial disater to another. I was a bit of a spend-aholic. The realisation that some years after it was still getting worse, not better, made me determined to change things. It's my birthday in July and might be able to clear it all by then, depending on my work bonus. August at the latest.

Well will need to follow in your foot steps, would really help to be able to get a 0% but hey have couple of years to wait. Well done.
I really hope you meet your target, i really do. Just knowing that you are nearly there must be such a wonderful feeling, I really hope work give you a good bonus. That would be lovely to have it all cleared and all that money left to save.
I really wish you all the best, you have done so well. Have you got a diary?:j DMP started on 1st Oct 11 - 6 yrs 0 mths till DFD :jMay 2018 Debt free date - Mission to clear before!Depression is a challenge, Debt is a challenge and I have been given these challenges to be a stronger person. Why do i find it hard to get motivated? I start off so well then I think of the debt or mess in the house and it demotivates me and all I want to do is eat? Its so strange.
Am having a really bad day to be honest, I have spent a couple of hours just sitting here playing about with ebay and its really demotivated me and I feel on a bit of a downer. I wish I didnt get like this. I want to be one of these strong people who seem to achieve lots with their time. Instead I just dwindle through life not really succeeding in much.
I have had a good think today and I do tend to bury my head in the sand when there are problems instead of facing up to them. Creditors who have not received payment one month - I wont speak to them! I will just hide away in my bubble. I like it in my bubble but my nervous feelinsg in it are taking over so I do need to deal with it. Its not the way to be.:j DMP started on 1st Oct 11 - 6 yrs 0 mths till DFD :jMay 2018 Debt free date - Mission to clear before!Depression is a challenge, Debt is a challenge and I have been given these challenges to be a stronger person. Sorry it's not been a productive day for you. I know what you mean about bubbles - I had one of those once. Don't beat yourself up on bad days, there are always better days ahead.
I noticed on Page 1 you had listed your outgoings... Are these your half of the bills or the total bill?
Do you pay these as your partner pays the rent / mortgage as I didn't see this listed?
You said you and you partner split the bills - do they earn similar money to you or more / less?
Lots of questions, sorry! Not trying to be nosey just seeing if there is room for 'financial jiggle-ing'
In answer to your previous question, no I don't have a diary. Always thought about doing one but it would be full of insane ramblings. I go round in circles a lot - hence the name.

Hi There,
Sorry to hear about your predicament.
With regard to selling Avon (I am a Sales Leader but I'm not here to recruit you - just to give you some advice)!
I live in Lancashire.
The Initial Outlay (wrong choice of word there) is £15 but this is taken out of your commission split 50/50 over the first two catalogues. The Catalogues are provided to you for the first 2 campaigns (there are 18 in a year) from the Sales Leader/Area Sales Manager who signs you up.
You should be provided full training by the SL/ASM.
You will also be allowed territory if you so desire it.
You need to earn £78 to qualify for commission (initially 20%)
You need to earn over £148 in sales to qualify for the higher rate of 25% commission.
If you want further advice I am happy to assist - if you do decide to become a Sales Representatives then just 'google' it and see other reviews etc.
I have been a Sales Rep nearly 3 years now and recently qualified as a Sales Leader. I love Avon - love meeting all the wonderful people. It has improved my confidence and happiness.
Good Luck xx
All the best.

Thank you, have you lost your bubble now? How does it feel?
These are my half of the bills even though my partner does give me money towards them now as my income has reduced so much. These are what comes out of my bank account. He pays mortgage and few other little bills so all in all does pay more, but he earns more. It would be easier if we combined all the bills but with my credit rating I doubt we would get a joint bank account. I worry about it all.
Your not being nosey at all, its so lovely to be able to talk about the finances without panicking, worrying, feeling stressed. I actually feel like I can be open.
You dont go round in circles well you dont seem to. :)x:j DMP started on 1st Oct 11 - 6 yrs 0 mths till DFD :jMay 2018 Debt free date - Mission to clear before!Depression is a challenge, Debt is a challenge and I have been given these challenges to be a stronger person. Hi Lou,
Thank you so much for your message and taking the time to give me advice. Well done for qualifing as a Sales Rep and doing it for 3 years.... it seems most people round here give it up. I have a meeting tomorrow to go through paperwork.
Thats really good its improved your confidence and happiness. It seems it does more than just earn money. How hard is it selling to house? What happens if I have an off day/miss a delivery to a customer?
Thank you for your advice.

I still go round in circles a lot but not as much as I used to...
As for the bubble: I used to leave letters & bills unopened - thinking they might go away if I ignored them. I used to avoid answering the phone - especially if I had missed a payment on something.
Once I got a grip on the situation I felt really liberated, not worrying about the postman arriving each day or shrieking at my lodger to 'just leave the phone!' (she must have thought I was slightly insane). Been bubble free for a little while now and I like it.
I'm glad you feel like you can 'talk', it's true what they say about a problem shared. No-one on here judges you which is what I found most comforting. There's still a real 'stigma' attached to debt and I never spoke to any of my friends or family about how bad the situation was, finding this site was a real help for me, just to sort of process my thoughts I suppose.
Does your OH know the extent of your debt?
Hope today has been better for you

We are so similiar, well i am similiar to your old self. I do know it wont go away now and that I have to deal with it. With regards to the phone calls, I dont answer my phone at the moment, the thing with when creditors are calling is they are so pushy on the phone and make such a big deal out of it instead of reasoning and helping, lets be honest if they listened and then they worked out a plan and helped then they would get alot more of peoples debt back.
A person has to face up to debt to be able to want to pay it all back, but if they didnt use these pushy means of getting it back, then they would probably get alot further.
I dread the postman everyday, I hate it. grabbing the post and particially opening it. Oh I dont think your lodger would have thought that, perhaps you just like to hear the ringing of your phone.
I am so happy you like being bubble free. It gives me some hope. Even though at the moment I feel safe in the bubble.
It really is true about that saying, but its so good that on this site you can be who you want to be and say what you want to say and no one judges gossips or stares. You are right it is comforting. I look forward to coming on here and reading replying writing. I look at it as my 'me' time and getting up early to do it seems to be helping with my motivation.
It is sad about the stigma thats attached to debt. We have a lot to thank :money: for I think! Dont thoughts drive you crazy.
No my OH doesnt know, I could never tell him as he would go crazy and probably wouldnt help me out with the bills. I know its bad and I should tell him but we have overcome alot of relationship problems and I am doing everything not to rock the boat. We have come a long way, so this I need to deal with myself. Its sad but I just dont want to cause anymore problems. He actually is one of these people who implies the 'stigma'. Such a shame but he supports me in many other ways now.

Yesterday was a goodish day, I wrote a letter to my loan company, I put a PPI complaint in last year and was awarded a smaller amount than what they agreed to pay. I wrote them a letter but they didnt even respond, I cant go to the FSA as the time scales are out (I did look into this) so I have written a letter to the Finance Director of the company enclosing all previous correspondence from them and me. I have read they have done this before. I may not get anything but if I did it should be just over £400. Would be nice but not holding my breath.
Need to go and post it today recorded. Worth the £2!
Also 2 items sold, only £2.43 but its £2.43 closer, not everything has finished so lets hope a couple more items will sell. So much more to get listed but I run out of time yesterday.
I have just checked my online banking, I was -£100 but I am now -£14.58 thanks to the Child benefit payment. :j it makes me feel better to see that I am not too much in my overdraft, I only have £100 so I can never go beyond that and I havent for couple of years. Wow I happier.
