Can the maintenence charge for the unauthorised overdraft be reclaimed?0
-
Hi,
Just recently sent my first letters to Abbey National (which I have now closed the account) to send me copies of all the bank charges. It will be interesting to see how much they have charged me over the last 6 years.
Anyway, just noticed my old statement and can anyone advise me whether I should claim for being charged because Abbey did cleared the cheques but charged me £20 each time. One cheque was for £5.74, well it doesn't happen a lot but should I claim for this as well? Seeing Abbey did pay it off for me although charged me a hefty £20 each time?
Please help.... Good luck to all you guys.0 -
Help!
When I claim excess charges back from my bank (LloydsTSB) can I include the overdraft interest they have charged both when I am in an authorised overdraft position and when I have been in an unauthorised overdraft position?
Stevoman:rolleyes:0 -
Yes you can stevo. You'll need to work out the proportion of the interest charged on the unlawful charges, and that charged on legitimate spending. Theres probably a calculator somewhere on here to help you work out whats what.
You don't just include all your OD interest as it may not all be valid for reclaiming.LegalBeagles0 -
Again being a bit slow can i claim for all types of charges or is there some you cant??

all charges incurred for you breaching the terms of acount can be claimed (referral fee/unauthorised overdraft fee/returned/paid DD fee etc etc)
you cant claim account service fees....eg. if you have a special kind of account which you pay a monthly fee for having.LegalBeagles0 -
Please can someone help me??
My bank Nationwide have charged me £30 for a bounced direct debit back in November, since then they keep adding more charges on and it currently stands at £107 I've asked them to waive the charges and they refused.
My question is can they force me to pay?0 -

Usually they take the money from your account to cover the charges, so they've already 'forced' you. If you wish to reclaim these charges, please go to the Step by step guide in my signature which explains the process.0 -
Thanks nickmack for your help. I am now sending off my 1st letter.0
